Dixie Chicks Movie, "Shut up and sing" Review(Barf alert_
Dish Network Pay Per View | 3/26/07 | Me

Posted on 03/26/2007 9:04:02 PM PDT by Jeff Gordon

Dish Network offered the Dixie Chicks' movie "Shut up and sing" as a $3.99 pay-per-view. While I was reluctant to send the money to the subversive organization, I decided I would do it in the name understanding the enemy.

It is clear from the movie that the DC know that screwed up and screwed up badly with their comment about George Bush while on tour in England. They know they screwed up but that are not taking any responsibility for their screw up.

They are deeply into blaming FreeRepublic.com for their troubles. They say that FR is a well organized group that wanted to destroy their career. They have no acknowledgement of the fact that they spit in the face of their fans when they bashed Bush in England. It is not their fault, it is all FR's fault. Typical liberals. No self responsiblity.

There were some shocking revelations in the movie. For example, Natalie said that she was not trying to make a political point with her comment. She was just trying to get a "laugh." She was just trying to get a laugh at the expense of her country and her president? Pardon me for not laughing.

The title of the movie, "Shut Up and Sing" came from peoples advice to them stay out of politics and do what they used to be able to do so well, sing country music. Their response to this was horribly arrogant. They felt they had a right to say what they said and that their audience had no right to react as they did. They have their right to their free speech while we have the obligation to "Shut up and listen." Sorry girls. That is not the way it works.

The final insult in the movie came near the end when they were again performing at what they called, "the scene of the crime," Shepard's Bush in London in 2006. Natalie made it very clear that she was "Not Ready To Make Nice." She choose to repeat, word-for-word, her insult to our POTUS. They made it appear that they felt safe doing this because Mr. Bush's ratings had fallen. They failed to realize that, ratings be damned, Mr Bush is still our President, they are still in England and they are still traitors.

3.99 is way too much to spend on them.

I can't figure out why they targeted FR so much. Just looking for a random scapegoat?

Of course, taking responsibility for one's own actions flies in the face of liberalism, so maybe it's understandable.

It came from a picture at a protest, I guess some FReeper was there and their sign had FreeRepublic.com at the bottom of it. Never mind it was all of country music and their fans who were protesting them and the majority of FReepers had no idea who they were...but the Left has never let facts stand in their way.

Criticizing our president on foreign soil during a war is ignorant. It is emboldening to the enemy and tears down support for our country worldwide, while degrading the morale of our troops. That qualifies as traitorous in my book.

This movie made a grand total of $1,215,045 in domestic receipts. It is a darn shame you spent hard earned money on these people. I suspect you can see it for free on utube, or ifilm or half a dozen other web video sites. One doesn't need to see the film to understand the minds of these women. Especially as their views are shoved down our throats.

Making fun of Texas? Not really on the same scale.

you better be saying that with a smile on your face.

Actually, Texas culture is different than most states. We have a creed here:

The Eyes of Texas are upon you, All the live long day. The Eyes of Texas are upon you, You can not get away. Do not think you can escape them At night or early in the morn- The Eyes of Texas are upon you 'Till Gabriel blows his horn.

Those words are taken to heart here, when you are a Texan you NEVER do anything that would bring shame on our state, the Dixie Twits did and in Texas....that is treason.

You guys never really stopped being a nation, did you?

Well...Being our own country didn't work out too well for us...Ya'll wouldn't take our money. But our pride runs deep and the only thing we value as much as our identity as Texans is our identity as Americans.

The Dixie Chicks have a right to speak, it's true.

What pisses the Chicks off is SO DOES EVERYONE ELSE.

Thus they can say anything they want and we're supposed to shut up about it. Typical liberal philosophy.

first of all, Natalie Maines is an American citizen. As an American citizen, you have what most people in other countries envy: freedom of speech. We as Americans can use that right whenever we so please and where ever we so please. At the time Natalie made this comment, our country was not exactly united like all of you say we were. We have never been united and we never will be united because none of us can agree on anything. Honestly people, what are you trying to achieve by banning them from the radio, destroying their records, and calling them derogatory names? In their documentary, "Shut Up and Sing", there is a clip of an interview with George W. Bush, and his exact quote was, "The Dixie Chicks are free to speak their mind. They can say what they want to say ... They shouldn't have their feelings hurt just because some people don't want to buy their records when they speak out ... Freedom is a two-way street ... I ... don't really care what the Dixie Chicks said. I want to do what I think is right for the American people, and if some singers or Hollywood stars feel like speaking out, that's fine. That's the great thing about America." Now if the President of the United States whom you all say is the greatest person in the world and is doing a heck of a job in the White House says that he doesn't care and that they can speak out, what are you all complaining about?
