In time for the Persian New Year, CBS's Melissa McNamara trawled the blogosphere (including MySpace blog entries) and found bloggers who think Iran's Islamic extremist government has a point about "300" being "anti-Persian." In doing she, she produced a handful of blogs that appear to generate light traffic and in at least one case is just a rambling screed.
McNamara told readers that the "Islamic Republic News Agency" (IRNA) finds fault with the film's version of historical events. She left out that IRNA is Iran's official state-controlled news/propaganda service. CBSNews.com's resident "Blogophile" also noted objections from an Iranian newspaper, Hamshahri, which she described simply as "Iran's biggest circulation newspaper."

Bush's Fault!
What a BS. Viewing "300" as unauthentic and unfavourable towards Persians has NOTHING to do with agreeing with the Iranian regime. Hell! Even I'm thinking this! Anyway it's just a film based on a comic for crying out loud! Get over it, stop lumping together due criticism with the Islamic regime and enjoy this helluva film.
It's about people who DIED fighting AGAINST Persians. How dificult is that. It is a story ABOUT people who were ANTI-PERSIAN. Sheesh.
The movie was super cool, I plan to see it again.
Where can I buy a ticket?
Saw the real story on the History Channel. Goes in depth to as to 'why' of the battles and the grudges on both sides. Rome was finally burned, but pay-back years later was real. Haven't seen the movie yet.
Ah, Fake but Actual, as Danny Rather used to say ...
You're thinking of Athens. Rome wasn't sacked until centuries later, and that was by the Visigoths, not the Persians.
Athens..........right
