Iraqi Police Clear Central Ramadi (without US help)
WTOC11 ^ | March 20 2007

The Western Ramadi District Police conducted a massive police operation targeting insurgents today in Ramadi.

Coordinating between several stations within his district, Brig. Gen. Khalil Ibrahim Hamadi, chief of the Ramadi District Police, personally led more than 500 policemen as they conducted house-to-house searches in the capital city of Al Anbar Province.

"The Sons of Ramadi work tirelessly to eradicate criminals and bring them to justice," said Khalil. "Today we achieved a noble goal in providing security and stability to our families and the people of Ramadi."

During the 10-hour operation, named Operation Lions of Ramadi, police detained more than 45 suspected insurgents, confiscated propaganda material and discovered several caches containing assault rifles, machine guns, and mortar and artillery shells used to produce improvised explosive devices.

Insurgents utilizing an IED during the operation killed one civilian and injured five. The wounded were transported by local citizens to a nearby Joint Security Station, then evacuated to a Coalition medical facility for further treatment.

This time last year Anbar had no real police force, most of Ramadi was under the control of al-Qaeda, and Iraqi Army units refused deployment to Ramadi. In the past year sheik Sattar has created an Iraqi police force in Anbar that is according to US commanders the best police force in all of Iraq.

What has been accomplished in Ramadi is absolutely incredible. A template for future progress.

Of course our accomplishments there, the successes there by both U.S. and Iraqis goes completely unreported (purposely so) by the MSM.

The military just as well kick out the MSM from the front.
Since they aren't reporting facts beyond what reinforces the hate Bush, Bush Lied, Stop the war flouders, why let the MSM have any access at all?

My son is deployed and he says do not believe what we are told by the MSM. There are a lot of good things happening in Iraq that the MSM chooses not to report. And that is a real shame. It isn't so much that Bush lied, but the MSM misleads and manipulates the picture with most of the puzzle pieces still in their box.

How can you fight wholesale deception when it is impossible to ignore the MSM propaganda machine of the Democrats?

Exactly right (sadly so).

How to fight it? Above my pay grade. But without question I know the RNC (and 90% of the members in Congress) have done a terrible job of standing up and supporting this CINC, and of touting our successes in this WOT (over the past 5 years).

The WH PR team has been just as inept since 2005 as well.

Where are the 527 type groups (that the RNC should be creating) that put out ads touting our successes and our need to stay on the offensive?? - Where are the members of the GOP in congress do such??

Better question: Where is our Soros to *pay* for those ads?

It is pitiful to think we need to pay millions for ads to counter the daily "free" media. Gack! We need to fight media bias on our level.

Write letters to editors etc. Unsbuscribe and tell em why. And, as you mention, demand our GOP reps have some spine and defend our mission in Iraq more forthrightly.

How about some YouTube roving reporters cornering some of the pressies and asking them what they know about Ramadi and why are they such ignorant boobs? It's time they had some cameras in their faces.

Agree with your entire post - Especially the above portion. It is sad that one hasn't stepped up.

'without US help' Good.

They can shoot up their criminal miscreants without worrying about being subjected to the ridiculous 'rules of engagement' that our troops are -- by the leftard 'fifth columnists' in our mass media.

Of course Bush will be blamed here for every hangnail that the Iraqis cause, but they wont much care so much what the dolts in our country are saying.

I think the time has come for the few real men left in congress to form a new political party. There is plenty of money available to support those candidates beyond the watered down cash from the GOP if they tow the party line (whatever it is anymore).
Disassociating themselves with the Rinos and whiners is the first step in creating a tough new vision and direction for America. If they are truely serious, financial support will come. I refuse to send any money to the GO P because they are a big part of the border problem.
What have they accomplished that they said they were going to do if we supported the GO P?
The good ol boys club has to be disbanded and if some get offended along the way due to earned criticizm, so be it.
The DemoRat party of retreat and defeat has no defense against a solid, no bullsh*t platform that actually attacks their base. They have no vision of how to conduct a winning platform without lies, deception, finger pointing and general distraction. Most of the current crop of Presidential wannabees stand for nothing except a tv camera and an $800.00 suit.

I think a good slogan for 2008 is NO BULL in 08.
Ike brought us the New Deal. Now we need No Bull.

Checked Google news for Ramadi+Police and this story from WTOC was the only thing that popped up other than a mildly positive article on BBC that mentioned things are "improved" from a year ago in Ramadi. If I had a billion dollars, I'd start my own AP: Just the Facts.

Sounds like this police chief should be running the place. He has balls and no shortage of guts. To take the terrorist scum on with no American support is truly cause for optimism. It is now obvious that the "peace" with the Sunni Sheiks is reaping huge dividends. It is obvious that the general had precise intelligence and attacked with overwhelming force. Lets hope this is part of a broader movement in Iraq.

I just hope they are not infiltrated like they were before, and for some reason I think that now they are not.

This was the kind of event/s I was thinking about that can ignite and sweep across that nation faster than our presence alone could ever do. WoooHooo for the Iraqi's!

The pendulum may have just turned in the last few days, if so all the cut & run politico's here of any party are going to look real bad.

Have we reached the tipping point? The signs seem to indicate this.

I am sickened by the constant bombardment of negativism our media provides.

This is good news but it's useless without coverage here at home.
