It sounds like for once Bush's non-confrontational style isn't working exactly as the Democrats want. Although if Bush would have taken a strong stand on the issue an just publicly continued to point out the hypocrisy of the Dems and the press on this issue, he would have shut them up long ago.
That said, supposing this is true, well then it's wrong. If the Administration can't defend this in public then they shouldn't have done it and those responsible should be spanked.

Democrats are not going to accept this. They want testimony under oath and on CSPAN.
Exactly. Either you have open hearings, or none at all. Half measures will get you nothing in this game. The best course would be to deny any testimony, and then have Rove write a book in 2008 about it (if he retires by that time).
I can only wonder what would they ask Rove. Maybe something like, "Is it true that your name was on some of those e-mails?"
Which Rove might answer, "Yup.... so what?"

It won't make a difference. Leaky Leahy will make sure everything is leaked to the press. That includes any secret security information that is made available.

And WHY, especially, should we give a crap over whether old Chucky is happy or not? LOL. Do they want an investigation or do they want "air time" on CSPAN to spout the usual dribble and lies they are used to pushing in the media? LOL!! This is an ingenious strategy by the White House. Why should they continue to give Chuckles and his fellow conspirators the means to steamroll President Bush into impeachment hearings? Of course, these hearings WILL be leaked anyway, you know that don't you? Leahy and Schumer will guarantee it!

Whether this would be an open or closed hearing, the RATS with the help of their MSM arm will spin it however they want. We can watch and listen to open hearings, but after they are over there will be a selective memory that edits the whole proceedings for public consumption. I think a closed hearing is the correct way to go since it deprives the RATS of their TV emoting time and helps to focus everyone there on the hearing itself. A closed, recorded hearing should pose no threat to the Republic that I can see.
I asked the same thing on SI tonight and have still received no answer. The President has the right to fire any of them he wants without answering to anyone!
Bush brings this on himself. For years he played turn the other cheek for these idiots. Expect a new scandal every week . It is time waste show trial time. I for one am sick of defending weaklings who will not fight back.

There is more at stake here than whether the President has the right to fire federal prosecutors.
I think Bush should respond by having a special prosecutor appointed to investigate Congressman Jefferson of Louisiana. That would really put fat in the fire, and the sooner the better.

I believe that there are indictments in te works for a few Dems, such as Congressman ( Cashbag in Freezer) Jefferson of Louisiana. And I think that there are others and that some of these attorneys were not acting in the best interests of the President. The Dems do not want these indictments to come forward, as payback for Delay, and Scooter Libby, in time for the run up to the election.
So the Dems mean to villainize the due process of the People.
