Another fantasy post discussing something that ain't never gonna happen. The Rudy go gaga fans here on FR (a *conservative* forum) are the laughing stock of real conservatives. The polls that count to the majority of us here on FR show that Rudy is not an acceptable candidate for the republican nomination. And there is a reason for it--he's a liberal.

"Never in my worst nightmares would I believe Republicans, much less FReepers, would willingly go along with the wholesale slaughter of our helpless unborn generations. Shameful. May God forgive us."

"It's not like he was the mayor of Bokipse, Minnesota."

What does it really matter what city it was? Like I care, or anyone else for that matter, any more or less, or his experience is any better, than it's already-dismal state, because he ran New York City!

Probably one of the few cities that would have elected this clown pre-9/11. Gay-loving, anti-second amendment, pro-illegal alien, pro-abortion crossdressers wouldn't play to well in the south or midwest.

So, then, what are we supposed to do if it is Rudy vs Hillary or Obama? To stay home is a default vote for the Democrats. Voting Libertarian is the same thing. We never learn, like the Dems, to vote for the party not the man and try to work around an unsatisfactory President. I CANNOT allow myself to contribute to a Democrat victory. If that means voting for Rudy, I will.

I have asked this question many, many times, and it is never answered. What did Reagan do to stem the tide of abortions? What has GWB done?? Nominate conservative judges? Rudy will do that too. Plus, judges can be renegades. Who knows what they will do on the bench.

I have gone from being pro-choice to pro-life. No President had anything to do with that. And I think it's nutty to support a "pure" Conservative WHO CANNOT AND WILL NOT WIN (Hunter) - over a Republican WHO CAN WIN and represents MOST of what I believe.

It should be Thompson. But, Tommy Thompson not Fred. The most successful Mayor in american history running with the most successful Governor in recent history. the sheer Gravitas of this ticket would overwhelm light weights like Obama and Edwards. Also Tommy would bring in Wisconsin and open more inroads to our premier growth region the upper Midwest. All Conservatives love him and that would help Rudy.
He would be very good president if he should need to take over. He is very much a visionary and the kind of person who changes things like Rudy. At his age he would be too old to run for President at the end of two terms which would be for the better.

Well, the Veep should be someone the POTUS could get along with. Ergo, I'd say Rudy should pick ..... Heinrich Himmler.

Wait, Heinrich's dead. Darn it, now I have to start over.

Hmmm, maybe Mussolini? Nope dead too, drat. Stalin? Drat, dead. There's always Che! Wait .. dead too, oh cr@p.

I'm sorry Rudy will have to "Rule" by himself (which is how one Freeper referred to a Rudy presidency yesterday - he'd be our "Ruler".)

Another article strongly implying that Rudy is inevitable.

IF he does get the nomination he should just select Hillary as VP and then EVERYONE would be happy! And Rudy said there's not much difference in policy between them. The MSM would be happy. It would make all the moderate - "can we all get along" bipartisans happy. All the Libertarians who want so desperately to teach Republicans a lesson (Neal Boortz) would be happy. And about 6 months into Rudy's term Hillary would just have him Arkancided so she could become Queen, er, President, so, really, it's a win-win situation for almost everyone!!

What does it really matter what city it was?

Well, for starters, New York City has a population of 8 million people. That compares pretty well next to some recent governors who've reached for the White House.

Howard Dean - Vermont - 600k
Bill Richardson - New Mexico - 2 million
Mitt Romney - Massachusates - 6.4 million
George Bush - Texas - 20.8
Ronald Reagan - California - 19 million (late sixties)
Jimmy Carter - Georgia - 4.5 (early seventies)

So, running New York City is easily comperable to being a governor. Argueably, it's much harder, since the problems of a city that size are a lot more complex than those of a rural state, and the Democratic establishment is more entrenched. The fact that he did so well in turning the city around (as any New Yorker will tell you, even the ones that hate him) speaks volumes to his abilities as an executive. His socially liberal views notwithstanding, he's got real leadership experience and successes. Fred Thompson doesn't.

It is how the Dems have kicked our ass in Congress and Presidential elections many times. It is not my preferred approach, but times are different. I would now vote Republican if they nominated Cartman.

They carried the banner for the pro-life cause. Understand this: once we cede that ground there's no going back. Not ever. The abortion issue will be permanently off the table.

Let's just say I'd have the DVR running during the VP debates, and treasure that recording for all time. Woe to the sad fool that had to cross swords with Dennis Miller in a debate.

An approach such as that is why we will never again have an accountable government. While I understand your frustration, when it becomes just "our guys against their guys" the ideals this nation was founded upon suffer.

"I CANNOT allow myself to contribute to a Democrat victory. If that means voting for Rudy, I will."

Your support for Rudy will accomplish exactly what you don't want to see happen. It's waaaay too early in the game to be supporting the most liberal republican candidate of the lot. If you do support Hillary...ummm, er...no, I mean Rudy, you can expect to get a nice letter from the next POTUS....

Dear RINO Rudy Supporters,

I want to thank you for your wonderful support in helping to get me elected POTUS. Bill and I are so thrilled to be back in the White House again. Your support for Rudy, and helping him to get nominated, was the key to me winning. Without your help Bill and I would not be here today.

Affectionately Yours,

President Hillary Rodman

P.S. I plan to nominate Rudy to the Supreme Court as soon as there is a vacancy. He will help us tilt the court back in our favor to assure that millions more unborn babies will never see the light of day. After all, it's every woman's right!

P.P.S. As you may recall, my campaign slogan was, "We're Going to Take Things Away From You on Behalf of the Common Good". ALL YOUR POSSESIONS ARE BELONG TO ME---YEEHAAAA!!!!
