The Nazi Protest - Columbia, Missouri

Well, the Nazi's came to town to protest against Mizzou.

I really don't think they got their message across that well, for they were totally outnumbered by those who don't want them in Columbia.

There were only about 15-20 of the nazis (from what I could tell) compared to hundreds and hundreds of anti-nazi's.

They were certainly outyelled as well. I won't repeat what was said to them...family site here.

But I have pictures. I am not the only one who have pictures either. Everyone had cameras, the media was just going crazy over the protest. I even saw Fox from St.Louis. Whoopee.

Tomorrow's papers both Trib and Missourian should have good pics. I will link them here.

I was right across from Shakepeare's Pizza when the nazi's first came down ninth street.

A button that was issued by groups here in Columbia.

The Riot Police. Policeman with bullhorn was telling people to get off the sidewalk. The nazi's were going to walk down the sidewalk.

Right beneath the sign, you can see the swastika badges the nazi's were wearing. The full brown uniform, with brown hat and shirt.

Full armored vehicles with full riot police. They were ready for anything to happen.

Of course, they had their own hatefull signs.


Entrance to parking garage. Blocked by the police. Rats.

Awww, come on Mr. Riot Police. We won't hurt the nazi's! We promise!

The nazi's had left the garage when I took this pic. Crowds still lingered around.

Here is a short vid of the march. Sorry for the shortness of the clip...Yes, they were carrying a Missouri flag, although they are from Minnesota. Creeps. They also had the Nazi flag.

I hope they won't come back anymore. If they do, they know what to expect. I was surprised by how many came out to this. I am glad they did.

What a circus. Also an interesting contrast. When communists march, they're likely to be joined by a hundred thousand of their liberal friends (I'm thinking of the big ANSWER sponsered anti-war marches). When Nazis march, they march alone.

But, having a conspiratorial mind, I can't help but wonder if
these were faux Nazis hired by a smart cabal of downtown
Columbia bidnesspersons!

Yes, I'm being facetious. But having any sort of Nazis come to
a university college town is guaranteed to draw a crowd that will
buy some pizza, beer and cafe lattes!

Should be real simple: you parade in public under a foreign enemy flag, against which American soldiers were killed in battle, and you go to jail.
