Legacy Media loves him because they know they can
turn him into the loser if he gets the Nom.
He'll cease being a favored "maverick" faster
than you can say "Captain Queeg".

Age never stopped Reagan. It never stopped Dole from getting the nomination. There's little reason to believe that Republicans are going to suddenly begin getting superficial as a group over such an issue.

McCain/Kerry F the POWS/MIAS
McCain/Feingold F free speech
McCain/Kennedy F American Sovereignty

On the record, McCain may LOOK conservative. But his name is still on the campaign "reform" legislation co-authored with Russell Feingold. Bush signed that bill, thinking the Supreme Court would overturn it, but no such thing happened.
McCain may SAY conservative things, but then he goes off and does or says something that is just off the tracks. Froot Loops, anyone?

Excuse me? This article is written by John Kyl. It most certainly does not need a "barf alert." This is Free Republic.
To: Norman Bates
McCain is moving in the right direction and his victory in the SC Spartanburg straw poll shows that he resonates with mainstream conservatives.
McCain has some serious flaws but I could vote for him a hundred times before I could vote for Rudy.

You just about summed it up.
Still, I like Kyl a lot. I'm just going to chalk his support of McCain up to loyalty to the senior senator in his state. It is too bad we can't expect a similar show of class from McCain.

With all due respect for Sen Kyl, I might ask the question, "What has John McCain done for us lately?".
Just as an annual bonus is for the most recent performance, my support is also for the most recent performance.
In today's world, you can't keep cashing in old accomplishments. You have to be ahead of the curve, or at least more than just yesterday's news.
And BTW, Norman, how's your mom?

McCain is dead in the water.
I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss him. This is a man who's not afraid to play all sides of all issues. And, he probably has a good reason for doing so. I believe he thinks he's got an ace or two in the hole which he might be willing to play. He'll do anything to get elected and he hasn't been afraid to offend the conservatives or liberals. He's wooing all sides of the political spectrum at the same time. Those aces won't have to be played soon. They'll be played later.. much later, and when it matters..

I want to say one "good" word for McCain.
He along with Teddy Atlas want to clean up pro boxing.
They want to force all pro boxers to join the Teamster Union.
And some people think Carter was a micro-manager!

So I take it, as a 'true conservative', who would never vote for a RINO, you also opposed George W. Bush in 2004, who signed McCain-Feingold.
