Idiotic. Disgusting. Stupid. Moronic.
I guess you could say that Ann loves to shock us, but at this point, whos shocked? She obviously cant behave well enough to attend a respectable political gathering. Its not a lack of intelligence. Its an indifference to self-control and a preening sort of narcissism that compels her to need the spotlight, even if its unflattering.
(For those of you who dont know what Im talking about, heres audio of her calling John Edwards a faggot at CPAC today.)

Michelle Malkin -
***4:15pm update***
Ann Coulter just finished her riff on Al Gore, tossed out some cute jokes ("You can understand why Hollywood is concerned about global warming. You know what heat does to plastic."), and ended with a cheap one-liner about John Edwards being a "faggot." (Paraphrasing) She said she would refrain from commenting on Edwards because "if you say faggot, you have to go to rehab."
A smattering of laughter.
Not from this corner.
Crickets chirping.

Bryan Preston of 'Hot Air' -
Ann Coulter is speaking at CPAC as I write. As is typical, she gave a brief speech full of her usual witticisms, including a few brilliant attacks on Al Gores green hypocrisy. All was good. Untill the last few seconds, when she launched into a joke about John Edwards.
Heres what she said.
Id say something about John Edwards, but if you say faggot you have to go to rehab.
Im no fan of John Edwards, but thats just a stupid joke. Its over the line. The laughter it generated across the room was more than a little annoying.
Last year it was raghead. This year its calling John Edwards a faggot. Two years in a row, Coulter has finished up an otherwise sharp CPAC routine with an obnoxious slur that liberals will fling at conservatives for years to come.
Thanks, Ann.

My comments... what should have been a day to celebrate a Reaganesque speech by Duncan Hunter, and good speeches by Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee was overshadowed by an unhinged comment by Ann Coulter. She is an absolute idiot for saying something like this at CPAC.
Friday afternoon, Republican mouthpiece Ann Coulter brought hate-speech politics to a new low.
This video shows Coulter addressing the American Conservative Union's Political Action Conference, March, 2, 2007 in Washington, D.C.
We must show that inflaming prejudice to attack progressive leaders will only backfire.
Can you help us raise $100,000 in "Coulter Cash" this week to keep this campaign charging ahead and fight back against the politics of bigotry?

The website has come to a screeching halt so mnay folks are trying to access it.
Ann Coulter has no capacity whatsoever as a representative of the GOP, or conservatives for that matter.
people say that the "dinosaur media" is dying, but it's quite alive.
witness my neighbors who sit on their butts all day, eating, and watching tv and they believe everything they see on the stupid box.
and, they're ANGRY!
my neighbor went off on me last night about the iraq war.
yes, thanks to the incompetence of rumsfeld and bush and cheney the next u.s. president will be a democrap.
I agree, Coulter stepped over the line.
It's important that Republicans and conservatives send a message that we are not a party of hate.
She has no idea how much damage she has caused with her stupid remarks.
Ann tells it like it is. Old testament prophets were hated for the same reason.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
Ok - we've all piled on - that's enough.
Name-calling is petty, self-indulgent, counter-productive. I should know--I've done it. It's a loser.
I used to like her. Now it seems she just wants to shock. But I think the Edwards campaign is going a touch overboard. Liberals say some pretty nasty things as well, on his own site at times.
I really hate what politics has come to. It is not even close to being about the people now.
Read the quote again and place into context. People hear what they want to hear, especially the propaganda media and Dems. It's brilliant.
People are afraid of words. They fear words. Pathetic. This is the perfect example of the evil of political correctness. Ann scored a grand slam, and many don't even realize it.
I'm tired of the 2008 election already. I'm going to tune out until it matters. Election fatigue.
I don't think Ann was trying to make a joke - I think she is attacking political correctness.
What is regrettable about this, having thought about it - is that Edwards was on the ropes because of having hired anti-Catholic bloggers - this just injected some life into his listless campaign.
Regards, Ivan
This is what Ann really said:
http://www.upi.com/NewsTrack/Ann_Coulter_calls_John_Edwards_faggot/20070302-105935-6328r/
It turns out you have to go into rehab if you use the word 'faggot,' so I'm kind of at an impasse -- I can't really talk about Edwards," she said.
"Rehab" may have been a reference to "Grey's Anatomy" star Isaiah Washington's decision to go into rehab during a public relations firestorm after he called one of his co-stars a "faggot."
____________________________________________________________
That's what UPI and other Libnuts want people to believe. They twist the truth to support their agenda.
Hardly a new low. While Ann may have crossed the line, Mother Sheehan called Bush the "worst terrorist in the world" recently.
Really? So, you have information that Ann has information that Edwards is a "faggot"?
BTW, bringing the OT into your comment doesn't give your comment any value.

Please FReepmail me if you would like to be added to, or removed from, the Michelle Malkin ping list...
It was just a botched joke. Can't we just move on?
I guess I'm an uncouth Republican, because I thought it was funny. Republicans act like there are Queensbury rules for a street fight. Democrats seem to have no such inhibitions, and as a result, they win a lot more than their bankrupt policies justify.
Even though I disagree with Ms. Coulter comments, I'm going to give this the same amount of attention the MSM gave the hate-speech that the two bloggers who worked for John Edwards produced.
chirp...chirp...chirp
This whole defense of Ann Coulter by pointing out what liberals have said over the years is really pathetic. I'll stand by fellow conservatives Michelle Malkin, Bryan Preston, Dean Barnett and others who will not use delection tactics to defend the indefensible. This was at CPAC!
I realize there is a bigger point to this thread, but WTF is going on in journalism when in this one sentence they can label Coulter "right wing author" yet there was not a "left-leaning" "left-wing" "leftist" or "liberal" to describe Edwards? This is where we are losing the war of words.
My concern is that she is falling into a Dem trait---symbolism over substance. Ann is too smart and can fill the room with substance (facts)...she shouldn't resort all her talents to symbolism. She's better than that.
Ann's smart enough to work with facts and not over sensationalize, but then...sensationalism is all that counts in the media anymore. I guess we can't blame Ann for that...now, CAN we?
AND...Thanks for my new tag line, Ann!!!
NordP
I'm not sure I could care less whether she did or didn't.
I know what she said and I know what the reference was to, thank you very much.
It was hateful and stupid.
I can't believe anyone would defend her.
Ann Coulter fires back at the left, tongue-in-cheek, in their own vernacular. Lefties have no problem criticizing sexual orientation, race or developmental disabilities so long as they're targeting their ideological enemies. IMO, she knows better, but just can't resist the temptation.
Can't we just shoot her?
Another, who proudly admits to his faggotry says:
I'd like to drag her out to a parking lot and kick her bony ass.
Ninty percent are probably republicans wanting to see the video. To me it's much ado about nothing. The terminally offended are offended again. Big deal!
My kid used to love that music video back when MTV actually played music video's.
Did you read the phrase???? What was hateful and stuipd about that? Get a grip.
Nope thanks to the gutless incompetence of supposed "Conservatives" who spend all their time whining at their own side because that is so much easier then taking on their neighbors, co workers or other Leftists when they start screaming utter lunatic nonsense.
You're right, we should be supporting the LOG CABIN republicans instead.....
Baddabing!
Well, considering he's already on the record as saying we shoudl raise taxes (a perennial loser for the libs) keeping him in might not be a bad thing.
He is a faggot. It is so funny that these days we sit around in awe at the faggots who rule our lives because we let them.
I still like that song.
Don't even bother trying to argue with these people. They believe what they want to believe - those who are always offended are still offended.
To everybody who's whining - what did you expect from Ann Coulter? I don't even like her, but anybody with even a passing familiarity with her should expect this sort of thing. Get over yourselves and move on.
It's interesting to see that Edwards wasted no time in turning this "shocking" incident into a fund raising event. Heck, this might be the biggest puff of wind to blow into his campaign in weeks.
What I find hilarious is the feigned shock by so many folks on the wrong (left) side of the aisle, particularly Howard Dean. The mud those folks wallow in have pigs begging them to take baths. Their false senses of decency emerge only on the rare occasion that someone from the right (right) joins them in the sty.
Ann is a very witty and intelligent political thinker. She gives voice to truth that, while others may agree, they are too cowed and frightened to speak it. She has made her reputation with direct, honest candor. Given that she is also human, it is not surprising that her edgy, realistic approach to political commentary might lead her across the line now and then. It's no reason to throw her under the bus. Shake it off and move on.
read cobra II,
and tell me
what you think of
donald duck rumsfeld.
LOL! Good points. A little equal treatment by the MSM might be nice for a change, but it isn't going to happen.
