Who did they survey? People in the Safeway parking lot?
This is ONLY Spartanburg County delegates. What makes this of any significance at all is the fact that this is "THE" Conservative bastion of South Carolina. It's a "bellwether" thing, an indicator of how SC Conservatives will go in the Primary.

What is the correlation history of the SC Straw Poll & who ends up being the nominee? I suspect this is 'much ado about nothing..'

I want to say one "good" thing about McCain.
He along with Teddy Atlas want to clean pro boxing up.
They want to make all pro boxers join the Teamster Union.
Kneecap anyone!

This *should* have a positive impact on Hunter's campaign. It's clear he was neck-and-neck with "the Mayor" and "the Maverick" while "the Mormon" was barely a blimp. Will the MSM take note?
No.
The press'll magically only see McCain at the top having edged Rudy.

There could be some truth to that. Here's my SWAG: The vote came down to something very close in the final rounds and someone was caught red-handed stuffing the ballot box. It caused a huge infighting stir with Rudy's guys and Hunter's guys screaming at each other. In order to keep peace, the local republican village meister decided to keep the vote frozen where it stood, with Giuliani out in a slight lead against Hunter, and then stuffed the box with the guy who's about to drop out of the race so that no one wins (except McCain). Weirder things have happened in politics.

"...McCain suddenly "found" 50 votes..." LOL! More proof that McCain is really a Democrat?

McCain 164 Rudy 162 Hunter 158 Brownback 85 Romney 80 Huckabee 21 Uh... How can you look at these results and not see that the true big story is Hunter's strong showing.
Answer: You're the MSM.
Even Fox News is ignoring it. They did a story and played background video of McCain (164), Rudy (162), Brownback (85) and even Romney (80).
They said and showed nothing about Hunter (158).
Sadly, I think this was Hunters main shot at getting into the top tier...and the Fred Thompson rumors may be taking away any "the conservative option" coverage.

I watched Special Report on Fox and they said Fred Thompson will not be pulled off of Law and Order to run for president. Seems there is a conflict on Fox.

LOL! Who knows maybe McCain will win the primaries. If he keeps going this way. And I'm joking of course.

LOL! More proof that McCain is really a Democrat? "HA!" rats always seem to find just enough votes to win, right at the end of the race. **scratches head**
To: areafiftyone
Remember Dole in 96. It IS NOT McCain's turn.

How can you look at these results and not see that the true big story is Hunter's strong showing.
"answer: he only got 158 votes. I got more votes running for senior class president."
That is a silly response. I have a background in marketing and considering the severe lack of name recognition the Hunter CURRENTLY has he crushed both McCain and Giuliani. Besides those two only garnered a few more votes than Hunter.
Sorry Mac but that is pretty pathetic spin.

With all his name recognition and free media attention, how is winning by TWO votes good news for McCain?
To: Josh Randal
Well, yeah, it was the only way I could get any mental traction with this situation. I mean, this is just plain odd. ;-)
Oh well, it just means that we all gotta move on to the next straw poll.
