Actually, if they could BUILD MORE APARTMENTS in NYC, rent control wouldn't be necessary.

You have to understand something. A "conservative" in New York City is someone who calls himself/herself a free-market, small-government advocate -- and then marvels in the government-run subway system they ride to work every day . . .

. . . and the rent-controlled apartment in which they live . . .

. . . and the government-regulated taxi fares . . .

. . . and those 40,000 police officers that make everyone "safe" . . .

. . . and all the laws that keep those nasty guns out of the hands of law-abiding citizens . . . etc., etc.
