Who's Hunter?

You're looking in the wrong place. You won't find his name with Rudy's in the Liberal/socialist directory.

``I believe that we should continue rent stabilization and rent control,'' the mayor said. ``I will continue to oppose'' their elimination.

But, but, Nixon did wage and price controls, and they were peachy.

I think his "liberalism" crosses the line and becomes fascism.

Just because some guy did ok managing a city following a disaster, doesn't automatically make him President material. Thats a HUGE mistake to go down that line of thinking.

And this guy wants to be "President"?,

Did he even take economics in school? And he wants the rest of NY republicans to go along with "his" position; it's scary what would his proposals be as POTUS..?

I will not support socialism (well I guess this ends you Rudy supporters claiming he is a "fiscal hawk"..).

Dear pissant,

You forgot a few:

Endorsed James Florio - D, for Governor of New Jersey

Initially opposed Bush tax cuts of 2001

Opposed federal welfare reform of 1996

Favored using civil forfeiture laws to seize automobiles of persons ACQUITTED of drunk driving (this one always makes me chuckle when I see folks claim that Mr. Giuliani is a libertarian)

That sad part about the political system is that you never know what a person will DO, which is the only thing that matters, until after they are in office. Both Clinton and Bush, in their individual ways, were CLASSIC examples of that. IMO, we know EXACTLY what Hitlery will do, but Rudy is still a mystery on certain issues, especially the ones where he is clearly a RINO. Talk is cheap and only actions count -- that is the downside.

Good find. Maybe he can put price controls on houses for all the poor people who can't afford one right now. Or maybe price controls on food like comrade chavez has done in Venezuela. I won't drink no rudy-aid.

And a ten year old article is relevant...how? You can't find anything more recent to use?

Uh, isn't Giuliani's qualification for President his Mayoral office in NYC? It isn't pissant's fault that Giuliani term as Mayor included 1997.

Hey, pissant, if Giuliani supporting rent control is some sort of conservative apostasy (which it is), how is it different than DH's protectionist "fair trade" issue? Both involve the Government trying to get a free lunch for special interests by distorting the market.

Since you like to quote Thomas Sowell :

Whole political movements are based on a refusal to accept that benefits have costs. Protectionism is just one of these movements.

Giuliani was for rent control? What a surprise.

Exactly. Not like anybody can get elected Mayor in NYC opposing it, even though it's a stupid thing.

Actually, if they could BUILD MORE APARTMENTS in NYC, rent control wouldn't be necessary.

He's the darling of the ideological puritans, who'll scuttle their own ship rather than have it lead to victory by a captain who doesn't quite meet their purity standards. I believe it's called cutting off one's nose to spite one's face, but hey, the 100 or so people who actually vote for Hunter in the primaries can hold their heads high, knowing they didn't sully their purity.

And note, this is from a guy who rather likes Hunter, but also lives in the real world.

" Nixon did wage and price controls"
And you should have heard how angry my father was at the Repubs at the time. He is conservative first, as am I.
