Authorities surrounded a home in Bloomington near the Southtown Mall Monday afternoon.
The home, located on 84th Street and Knox Ave., was raided Monday afternoon by ATF agents and officials from the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
Officials told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS that there was no immediate danger and it was more of precautionary measure.
Bloomington firefighters evacuated homes in the neighborhood and used police tape to block off a large area.
5 EYEWITNESS NEWS spoke with a neighbor who was evacuated from his home.
"Bombs, bomb contaminants, explosives in the neighborhood and they got a call on
they wanted to evacuate homes so everybody is safe and they could go in and investigate what the explosives might be, he said.
The ATF, BCA and the FBI all show up as a "precautionary measure"????
Well now, ButThreeLetsDo, this looks interesting.
(P.S. It's not unusual to have a multi-agency raid.)
Guy probably had a gun that holds more than one bullet.
As a precautionary measure, you send the housing inspector. This is obviously a tab bit more than they're letting on.....
No, in this situation (according to this article you posted) a housing inspector wouldn't do (unless he wanted to observe).
ARTICLE SNIPPET: ""Bombs, bomb contaminants, explosives in the neighborhood and they got a call on
they wanted to evacuate homes so everybody is safe and they could go in and investigate what the explosives might be, he said."
Private citizen's "report".
Precautionary seems to be a poor word choice, in this matter.
Updates appreciated.
Here we go.......From another TV station in town......
Military-Grade Arsenal Found In Bloomington Home
(WCCO) Bloomington, Minn. Police found a number of military-grade weapons at a home in Bloomington, Minn.
The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension was called in to a home on the 1700 block of 84th Street West to retrieve the weapons. They are also receiving assistance from the FBI, the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and the Bloomington Police Bomb Squad.
Authorities found military-grade explosives, at least 12 semiautomatic weapons and materials that could be used to build bombs inside the home.
Several nearby homes have been evacuated. Some neighbors said the man living in the home searched has been living there for some time and was "a gun enthusiast."
Authorities have called Army officials from Wisconsin to the scene.
