"But I tell you, the Serbs have been and are our friends, fighting a valiant and terrible war to show us what we will be up against, and precious little thanks do they get."
The Serbs have always been America's friend. This friendship was severely tested throughout the 1990s, and not just by the Clinton administration. Bush One's administration...the Media... etc. and now we have Kosovo which is an issue everyone should be paying attention to. Unfortunately, Iraq and Iran take up most of the attention these days, which is understandable. The Albanian terrorists are flying under the radar, but as always, what happens in the Balkans will have great repercussions for the future.
The Serbs should have been supported 100 percent.
Well I don't like one-sided reporting, which, as you've already noticed - since you could notice me all those times - seems to dominate any of the posted "Serbia" articles. That, and the constant apologies of (a) Serbia is innocent, only other countries acted violently; and (b) there's some sort of "co-ordinated international plot among Western countries to demonise Serbia/Serbians" in the comments section.
Yes, I have a problem with stuff like that, and will not hesitate to say so.
Hope you enjoy my future posts.
I spent time in B-H just before, then during and after the war (also a bit in Kosovo after the war). I don't know if the stories about the mass murders are true but I can testify that in the months leading up to the war the Serbs I knew couldn't wait for the killing to start and they wanted to do their share.
I wonder what you think of the article from 1987 that I posted at #18. Was that "Serb propaganda" too?
How about this picture? Is it real or is it photoshop?
And just for the record, I have no dog in this hunt. ML/NJ
Look, I really screwed up a long time ago and explained to my boss that it must have been a communication problem. He gave me a pitying look and explained gently that all problems are communication problems. I never forgot him or his sage bit of wisdom.
Now do you know that the three most difficult languages to learn as a second language are English, Russian and Japanese, I think in that order. The guys who post about Serbia are speaking English as a second language and doing their level best to explain their position; They leave gaps in their narrative that you have to fill in with your experiences. My position is if you have no common experiences you fill them in with your own, and as I mentioned, not the best sources. The Serbs have right and history on their side, all we have is might and we are using it not wisely nor well. I am sorry that they can no communicate that to you in good English, but I assure you they are thinking that in fluent Serbian. All I ask is you look past their bad English and read some history.
I admit to considerable ignorance on this topic. I do understand the Bill Clinton/MSM perspective that never seemed to have been challenged by the American Left. Their position was that the Serbs were practicing ethnic cleansing. Considering the source, the claim carries little to no weight with me.
I never liked the term ethnic cleansing as its meaning is unclear. It could be expulsion or murder. They are not the same thing at all. So my ears perked up when a round table of T.V. (liberal) pundits picked up the subject. After many denunciations of ethnic cleansing, one person timidly asked what did it mean? Moving or killing? No one knew. Finally one bright person said that whenever you move people, some die, so there really is no difference. That was good enough for our "best and brightest." Case closed. LOL.
Liberals like to wage wars if its for humanitarian purposes only. Kosovo was a politically correct war. We aided the wrong side and killed innocent Serbs through NATO airstrikes.
Better than Croat/Albainian-Nazi propoganda
I couldn't agree more!
"The Serbs should have been supported 100 percent."
Yeah, gotta love good ole' Billy Boy, dropping bombs on Serbian churches on Pascha, to take attention away from Monica and his cigar.
My Orthodox brethren in Serbia have suffered horribly. I pray for them.
I agree with you. We should have supported the Serbs, an Orthodox Christian people, instead of the murderous, raping, drug-running thugs in the KLA.
