...it didn't take long for a conservative watchdog to glean through the 24/7 postings of the two bloggers and come up with the sort of sound bites that leave teeth marks on a campaign. There was McEwan's description of Bush's "wingnut Christofascist base." There was Marcotte's slam on the Catholic prohibition on birth control as a way to force women to "bear more tithing Catholics."
Within days, the two women resigned from the campaign and returned to the briar patch of their blogs.

The National Jewish Democratic Council (aka National Judenrat Democratic Council, which itself posted anti-Semitic material on its blog in an attempt to damage Jewish-Evangelical relations for political purposes) criticized Mitt Romney for speaking at the Henry Ford Museum--because Ford published anti-Semitic material that he later retracted, repudiated, and apologized for. According to the Left's standards, Republicans should be disqualified for appearing at the museums of long-dead EX-anti-Semites,* but MoveOn.org Democrats get a pass for consorting with live Catholic-haters and Jew-haters (e.g. the ones at MoveOn.org's Action Forum) and live racists and anti-Semites (Al Sharpton of Tawana Brawley, Crown Heights and Freddy's Fashion Mart fame).
* A Judenrat was a Nazi-appointed group of Jews whose job was to keep order in ghettos (i.e. willing or unwilling collaborators with anti-Semites), hence NJDC = National Judenrat Democratic Council. They also participated in the attempt to whitewash MoveOn.org's hate speech.
Q: What is the difference between Henry Ford and Mel Gibson, and Al Sharpton and MoveOn.org?
A: Ford and Gibson apologized for and retracted their anti-Semitic publications or statements.
I am surprised these bloggers are not up for Oscars.
Is it too late to nominate them for the Nobel Peace Prize?
bump
If they will give the Nobel Peace Prize to terrorists like Yasser Arafat, they will give it to anyone. Given how the Left thinks Iraq was great until we deposed Saddam Hussein, maybe they can give it to him posthumously.
Responsibility for your words?
It's a shock to the system, Ellen,
but we'll survive.
I posted verbatim her astonishingly retarded evaulation of the Duke lacrosse case last week; it was so full of profanity that it was deleted.
I couldn't help noticing, as I read the full article, that immediately after discussing the trash-talking Marcotte and McEwan, Ms. Goodman referred to the blogosphere as "the world of AnkleBitingPundits." Obviously she has never compared the style of AnkleBitingPundits with the abovementioned trash-talkers . . . but after all, it's a column in the Boston Globe.
What Marcotte wrote about the Virgin Mary was just about the vilest and most blasphemous thing I have ever read, and I do not get offended easily at all. There was nothing she wrote that can be explained away as "being taken out of context" - the whole "context" was to be as shocking and disgusting as possible.
