Suppose an advanced method were developed which allowed genetic manipulation of a naturally produced zygote...no artificial insemination or destruction of superfluous zygotes/embryos would take place. What would be the position of the Church concerning such a method?

There are other groups that would embrace such a concept much more readily than the Catholic Church.

Groups such as the Nazis, for instance.

Hmm. Pretty early in the thread for the Nazi card to come up, but I suppose this is a controversial topic.

Why would the Church be reluctant to embrace the concept I described?
