La Paz, Feb 23 (EFE).- President Evo Morales on Friday blamed wealthy countries for the El Niño ocean-atmosphere phenomenon and the natural disasters it provokes, such as those that have affected much of Bolivia this year.

According to official figures, thousands of Bolivian farmers have lost their crops due to a drought in the western part of the country, while more than 22,000 head of livestock have drowned as a result of flooding caused by weeks of heavy rainfall in the eastern lowlands.

Hold onto your hat, Evo.

There is extensive archaelogical and other evidence , extending back many thousands of years, of repeated episodes of "super el Ninos," which we apparently haven't really seen in the last few centuries. Some of these resulted in droughts that led to most of the Amazon rain forest burning and the resultant collapse of advanced societies in these areas.

Evo, I guess the cocoa plants just aren't growing like they used to.

But you see, I don't listen to national leaders who think an Indian sweater is formal wear.

No doubt he's right. There were never any droughts, floods, famines, or hurricanes in the world before Bush was elected.

I think an "I'm sorry" is inadequate. The least - and I'm talking the very least - Bush could do is send them a Valentine. I know it's a little late but I think one of them with a funny saying on it may put a smile on their face and cheer them up.

How does this sound?

Roses are red,

Violets are blue.

We killed old Saddam,

Now we're coming for you.

Some people are like Slinkeys. They are completely useless, but you can't help but smile when you see one tumble down the stairs.

It appears that some South American countries have found that socialist narco-kleptocracies are more attuned to their societies than liberty.
