Tori Kovach of Aberdeen, left, is a regular feature on downtown streets, often seen near the Wishkah Bridge holding signs protesting the war in Iraq or chastising President Bush. On Wednesday, Sgt. Brendan Chamburs, the Marine Corps recruiter stationed in Aberdeen, saw Kovach holding a protest sign near Quizno’s and decided to stage a counter-demonstration.
He had his sign made at Coast Line Signs. Kovach was unmoved, saying, “I believe in the military, but I think the military is being misused. They are dying for a lie.” A few people honked their horns as they drove by, but not everyone was inclined to support free speech. Before Sgt. Chamburs showed up, someone threw an egg at Kovach from a passing car, hitting his sign.
I thought about that nuance when I typed that comment, I should have wordsmithed it more carefully. In no way am I buying into the crap that creepo deserves our warrior's protection. Sorry for the confusion. Thank you for your service.

I live in Durango, CO. It is a liberal College town. While paying for iced tea at a convenience store, two Army National Guardsmen came in and I turned around, shook their hands and thanked them for what they are doing. They were very appreciative and thanked me. The college student cashier just looked on with a dumbfounded look. Sad state of affairs with so many of our young people.
This is the thing that gets to me the most. Every time we see the protesters they are all old moonbats trying to recapture their glory days. Its like they're having their midlife crisis and this is their last chance for it to be the sixties again. Mean while all the young people are signing up voluntarily to go to war to make a future for themselves and their future children and they get no thanks. Just the moonbat noise on the streets and in the congress. I feel really bad for the young people.
Mr. Kovak, YOU are the lie.
Our brave soldiers are dying in order to preserve
your freedom to accuse them of dying for a lie.
