That's his collarbone for those of you in Rio Linda. 8^)

One of the tourists -- a retired U.S. serviceman whom officials estimated was in his 70s -- allegedly put Warner Segura in a headlock and broke his clavicle after the 20-year-old and two other men armed with a knife and gun held up their tour bus Wednesday, said Luis Hernandez, the police chief of Limon, 80 miles east of San Jose.

...he tourists drove Segura to the local Red Cross branch, but he was declared dead, Hernandez said.
Unless it was a really brutal and traumatic fracture which puntucred something, I doubt the broken clavicle killed the attacker. Probably suffocated him, or broke his wind pipe or something like that.

Either way, good on these senior citizens...they defended themselve and drove the attackers off, killing one.

I've been to Costa Rica, beautiful place, the women are spectacular....but hold on to your wallets and passports. One of my friends even had his flip-flops stolen...each of my friends had something stolen but me. Lucky I guess, and I tend to be a bit paranoid, it does help!

Yowza! A group of elderly American tourists against 3 Costa Rican youngbloods armed with gun and knife - and the seniors put up such a fight, one of the punks dies with a broken clavicle? Sure would like more detail!

Check this out, Dave. :o)

"Costa Rican authorities said they did not plan to file charges against the tourists..."

Th reporter actually asked the Costa Ricans if they were planning to charge the victims!?

Sheesh.

The Americans had arrived in Limon on the Carnival Cruise Lines ship Carnival Liberty.

They should have known that carnie cruisers on liberty are pretty tough roustabouts.

Everytime I hear of a mugger, carjacker, home invader etc.. involuntarily sent back to his maker, it brings a tear to my eye. What could be more heartwarming than that ?

Wow! The world is truly upside down when Costa Rica seems to get how justice works and we're either locking up border agents, soldiers or extraditing bounty hunters to Mexico.
