He's lying.

How do you NOT notice that an object as large as a taxicab is missing? If it's supposed to be having a transmission repaired, why haven't you checked with the mechanic to (1) make sure it was delivered, (2) when it will be ready.

The owner of this company is afraid that he will be saddled with a lawsuit for rehiring this Islamic goon, knowing that he had already been in serious trouble with the cops.

The owner is no doubt burning W-2 forms and paycheck records and sanitizing his computer even as we speak.

I hope that the two boys lawyer up immediately and try to get hold of this company's records before they all go up in smoke.

I'm afraid you're probably right, the cab company is in heavy CYA mode. If there is no police report to document the supposedly "stolen cab", then I think this cab company is toast.
