I am saying neither. See my Post 140. If Joseph Smith believed that God was not always God but was once a man and that men can become Gods and the LDS Church inisists that God has always been God and that men cannot become Gods, then Joseph Smith is guilty of creating a God of his own making. That would be idolatry and blasphemy.
So was Joseph Smith blaspheming God or was he accurately describing God? It is either one or the other. It cannot be neither.

Some lib in chat informed me that Mormons talked to a green lizard in the desert.

That would be idolatry and blasphemy. After reading your post several times, I think I understand what you are saying. It appears that you have fallen into the fallacy of equivocation. If you read what I wrote previously and what you have written here, I am sure you will see what I mean.

Another logical fallacy, this time that of bifurcation or false dilemma.

If it was a plan, and if he was hoping it was the "question" that needed to come up, I don't think he handled it very well. I've heard him address similar concerns before, and this one caught him off guard. He wasn't that smooth. When he's smooth, you know it, and are amazed that anyone could possibly compete with him in the debates. This one was so hostile that he had that nervous laugh at the first of his response, personnaly, I think he blew the chance.
