(Albany, NY) WINTER STORM HAS BEEN POSTED FOR HEAVY SNOW TUESDAY EVENING THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT
WTEN, Albany ^ | 2/12/2007 | Weather Staff

Posted on 02/12/2007 5:41:01 PM PST by xcamel

Colder and dry air moves in for tonight and Tuesday, so we expect no problems. Tomorrow will start off with some sunshine....then clouds will increasing quickly during the afternoon.

A storm system now in Oklahoma will track across the Ohio Valley tomorrow and weaken as it heads towards Western PA. This storm will reform on the Maryland/VA Coastline by Wednesday Morning. The track right now will take the storm slowly Northeastward towards or just east of Cape Cod. This track would produce heavy snow for much of the region. Here's a breakdown on the timeframe of this storm. Light Snow arrives between 9pm and Midnight Tuesday Night. There should be 3"-6" of snow on the ground by 7am Wednesday Morning. It will snow all day for Valentines Day, with 10-16" by 7pm Wednesday. Winds will increase from the NNE and this will cause considerable blowing and drifting snow, especially in the hill and mountains around Albany.

Behind the storm, you guessed it....strong winds and another blast of Arctic air with well below normal temperatures. Updated 6:30pm

=======================

TONIGHT: Clearing and much colder, Lows 0-5 Above....5 below in the Adirondacks.

TUESDAY: Morning sunshine then increasing clouds, very cold, Highs 15-20, Winds: NNE 6-12mph

WEDNESDAY: Snow....heavy at times...may briefly mix with sleet south and east of Albany...Accumulations by Wednesday night 10"-16"....Highs 20-25.

I didn't know we had a storm system here in OK -- we have been having misty type rain most of the afternoon. Sounds like we have something come at us this evening. I am tired of winter!

considering we've had less then 6" for the year here near Albany (unlike the 148" in redfield), this storm will bring some of the heavy wet stuff that could cause real problems locally.

We've been dry here in SE CT as well. Hoping this part of the state stays in the Gorebelt. I saw news clips of people having to shovel off their rooftops in NY and I don't want any part of that (not wishing this on anyone else, mind you).

Good luck!

We've got a warning here in Southern Michigan as well. We got a couple of inches today but should see the heavy stuff between tomorrow morning and Wednesday.

Yep, must be. We're supposed to get up to 14 inches of global warming here in the Cleveland Ohio area.

Fortunately (or unfortunately, take your pick) we in NH won't. Forecast for 8-12" where I live and wintry mix (read: ice) along the seacoast. Should make for a whole lotta fun coming into work on Wednesday and Thursday.

Don't take this personally, but I hate you.

11 degrees right now, going down to -2 tonight, with wind chills around -25. And then there's this:

That's right, boys and girls. -22 with a windchill of -51 as of 10:45 PM EST. Forecast windchills to -65 tonight. Sleep well.

Yes, but Central NY (where there is some 5 feet of snow on the ground in places) will not miss it. We're expecting 12-18" here. You won't hear me complaining, though.
