BEIJING, February 12 (Itar-Tass) - North Korea is ready to shut down its nuclear reactor at the Yongbyon research centre under the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) control, but at the current stage resolutely objects to its “dismantling,” a source close to the six-sided negotiating process told Itar-Tass on Monday.
In return for freezing its nuclear programme Pyongyang demands compensation – supplies of electricity and fuel oil. According to the source, the supposed energy aid volumes have been several times varied in the course of the current stage of the six-party talks on the Korean Peninsula denuclearisation with the participation of China, Russia, the two Korea states, the United States and Japan. The source said the parties are currently bargaining as on the market - one side names a figure five times overstated and the other underestimates the demand hoping to get a more or less acceptable variant.
Yaaay for negotiations! It took awhile, but by sticking with diplomacy we got North Korea to shut down their program before they got nukes. Yaaaaaaaay!
How do you say "bait and switch" in Korean ?
What a greasy little dirtball Kim is.
They have to shut down the reactor to reprocess the fuel into more plutonium.
