Cologne - a central council of Ex-Muslims established itself in Cologne (Germany). Therein about three dozens of Muslims declared publicly their departure from their belief, reports the "focus". The chairperson of the new headquarters advice, the Iranian human right activist Mina Ahadi: "I was born accidentally into a muslim family and have decided, not to be a Muslima."

Many of the three million persons out of islamic countries in Germany have withdrawn itself from islamic rulers and would have to experience now how muslim functionaries speak in their names. The central council of Ex-Muslims is supported of the atheistic oriented Giordana-Bruno-foundation.

According to the concept of orthodox Islam-scholars the death penalty stands on the departure of the muslim belief after the laws of Islam. (dpa)

I translated this interesting german article. Good to see at least some people from muslim countries rejecting islam. I wish them well, and wonder how long it takes until the members of the religion of "peace" will attack them.

Do you have any background info on their support group?

Watch you backs, folks. You can't leave the ROP. Like you can't leave an organized crime family.

Very brave. Non-muslims need to consider giving moral and financial support to chapters of this movement in every locality. I'll kick in a few bucks for one in Dearborn, Michigan.

I figure atheism (more likely, agnosticism) would be a step in the right direction from following a false god. Someone can evangelize them later.

I agree. I was just wondering whether it was a sidestep into another hate group or not.

The Giordano-Bruno-Foundation (the article mistyped Giordana), is a German secular-humanist organisation named after the medieval monk Giordano Bruno, who was killed as a heretic. They consist mainly of Professors, writers and scholars not only critical of the Roman Catholic and Lutheran Church in Germany, but also the negative influence of Multiculturalism and Islam. They mainly engage in scientific research and studies regarding religion and philosophy.

A rough translation:

"The Giordano Bruno foundation is a non-profit organization, which aims at promoting "evolutionary humanism". It was founded in 2004 by entrepreneur Herbert Steffen and is named after the medieval monk Giordiano Bruno, who had been burned at the stake as a heretic in 1600. As of Nov. 2006 Michael Schmidt-Salomon, author of the "Manifest of evolutionary humanism" is speaker of the committee. From it's inception the foundation followed in the footsteps of church critic Karlheinz Deschner.

The foundation has a decidedly critical attitude towards religion, claiming it "influenced the cultural evolution of mankind in a detrimental way". With its propagation of a "Leitkultur" (See Wikipedia article on Leitkultur) of humanism and enlightenment, it opposes both the idea of a German-christian Leitkultur as well as a politically indifferent multiculturalism.

[...]

One of its long-term projects aims at establishing a representation, a central council of those who belong to neither the Roman-Catholic nor the Lutheran ("evangelical") , the so-called "Konfessionsfreien" (free of denomination).

[...]

The foundation plans on awarding the "Deschner-Preis" for organizations furthering the secular cause.

But you should really give learning German a try, it's one of the world's greatest languages, and, belonging to the same West-Germanic group of languages as English, it isn't that hard.

Germanic is the basis for English from what I understand. As of now I do not speak German. Thank you for the clarification.

You know, you just don't get it. It's not about getting away from what you consider a 'false god.' It's about getting away from the oppression that Islam represents, which is just as present in Christianity. I applaud them for escaping Islam, and can only hope the pendelum of ignorance doesn't swing the other way and draw them towards Christianity. No 'evangelizing'!!!

They're not likely to survive. Islam is not tolerant of freethinkers and apostates.

Yeah, bud? How do you plan to enforce that? Jail the evangelizers? Lock up the believers? Crazy Kim's papa did exactly that. You carved out of the same mold? Effing communists.
