There are times when I really wonder if we aren't training some of the very guys that are turning around later on and killing our soldiers.
Frankly, at this point I don't trust any of the Iraqis at all, outside of perhaps the Kurds.

It was right after Operation Linebacker II in 1972.

However I really wish and hope for the best, and my heart goes out to those that truly appreciate our sacrifices.

Use A-10's, and let them kinow what hell is really like. Have them gwet a taste of that GAU-30, and our sheet bedecked pals will go home.
Oh! I'm sorry. That means I don't care about their feelings. Heh heh, as if I care.

The US Army flies CH47 Chinook's. I didn't know they had CH46's. Good info. You are right. The Army doesn't fly 46's. That's the Marines. (Dad was an Army Chinook pilot, ex-husband was in the Marines.)

Right! It's the MSM and the Demo's that's bringing up the fact we lost 4 or 5 choppers since the renewal of hostilities in Iraq vs how many did we loose in 'Nam???
I know there's no comparison but it's a war and we do loose people and equipment ... god forbid the Dem's of today were in power when we launched the D-Day invasion ... they'd be screaming to pull out two days later ......
Regards,
Jane

every now and then is right....Not as easy as u might think...as an old crewchief/doorgunner with 2 tours in VN and lots of hours on slicks and loches...I was always amazed at how much lead a bird could carry off....on another note...on my first tour, they would shoot at u every chance they got...by the 2nd tour, they would hide, run, what ever it took not to give their position away....Took awhile but we "trained" em...
if they fired...they knew that their world was about to turn to homemade $hit in less then 30 seconds...the Gunships circling above were more than happy to engage em...Im thinking that same tactic would work, over time, in Iraq....if our boys are fired upon from the city....a couple of 500 pound bomb in the general location might make the civilians police themselves..........over time....*G*

The Army doesn't fly the Sea Knight, the Marines and Navy do. The Navy retired the last of their Sea Knights in September of 2004.
040924-N-2636M-011 San Diego, Calif. (September 24, 2004) Commander, Helicopter Tactical Wing, U.S. Pacific Fleet, Capt. Mitchell T. Swecker, addresses the crowd at the inauguration of a monument that commemorates the retirement of the H-46D Sea Knight Helicopter. The venerable H-46D Sea Knight retires after 40 years of serving as the Navys backbone in aerial logistics and vertical replenishment from the Vietnam War to Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF).
