>>>Why would the Catholic Church annul a marriage at the behest of homosexuals?

Allow me to clarify. Not the Catholic Church. The State.

I've already run into the rabbit hole in Blue Jersey.

The State will no longer recognize a marriage certificate issued by a religious institute as a legal document.

The States will have to only recognize marriages under a Civil Certificate.

See?

Is there even an "annulment" statute in state law?

That is a law of unintended consequences I'm trying to get my State Rep. to take into consideration. The end game for Gay Marriage proponents isn't the recognition of Gay Marriages but the non-recognition of marriages performed in Churches that won't marry Gays.

My husband and I were living together illegally for 5 years because we did not file our marriage certificate with the state of Michigan within 90 days of the wedding. This was in the 1970's.

Calpernia, what is a Marriage Certificate issued by a Religious Institute. When I got married, I got a Marriage License from the Courthouse. I could have been married there by a clerk, or later by a judge, but we were married at home by a minister.

In New Jersey, were Marriage Licenses issued by churches, as well as the state? It makes no sense that the state will no longer recognize legal marriages that happened in the past. It is just stupid.
