‘I Hope I’m Wrong’(Collins, another RINO labeled as a moderate)
MSNBC ^ | 2/5/2007 | Eleanor Clift, Newsweak

Feb. 5, 2007 - Republican Sen. Susan Collins of Maine is one of the leading proponents of a Senate resolution opposing President Bush’s plan to send additional combat troops into Iraq. The nonbinding measure has created divisions within the GOP; some colleagues have accused Sen. John Warner of Virginia, the chief Republican sponsor of the resolution, of undermining the troops, a charge Collins strongly refutes.

Collins traveled to Iraq as part of a Senate delegation in December, and returned convinced that putting more troops into Baghdad would not stop the violence. She joined forces with Warner and Democratic Sen. Carl Levin, chairman of the Armed Services Committee, in cosponsoring the resolution. The measure is broadly popular with Democrats—but its fate hinges on how many Republicans are willing to break with Bush and vote against his plan.

Warner's position is a total mystery until you remember the guy is pretty far gone into old age ~ and may freeze into place within days.

Collins has no such excuse.

Collins is one notch above a Chafee Liberal Republican and about 9 notches to the left of a moderate.

The Maine State Chair issued a call to action today for Republicans to work at taking care of Maine's biggest problem. His biggest problem is that he didn't mention taking care of Collins. Our Senators need to stop speaking only for Veterans for Peace and start representing the people in their party. Enough is enough.

"Moderate" in politics means you stand for nothing.

The Senate Rats, RINOs and MSM would have you believe the Veterans for Peace are the only representation of the people. I talk to many people per day about all different things and I have failed to meet anyone with these anti-war feelings that are being portrayed.

She certainly is not a person whose opinion has any merit.

Right you are! I do run into a lot of people who are really fed up with both parties in this state. The southern part of the state is more liberal but the media in the central area is allowed to run wild parroting extreme left wing muck.

Susan Collins, along with her Maine Senate partner Olympia Snowe are liberals who just happen to be under the banner of the Republican Party. Neither one acts, thinks or votes like a conservative and are perfect examples why the Republican Party are getting their lunch handed to them in recent elections !!!

The media is purposely distorting tactical disagreements which are many with mission disagreements which are very few. I've never understood how representatives can spend a day in Iraq and then get all over the air proclaiming their newly found expertise. I spent the Superbowl watching with a Marine Recruiter friend and I asked him how recruitment was, being what's been in the media about Iraq, and he told me that they have had no problem meeting their increased goal.

He told me that in January they were instructed to go from 2 recruits per month to 3 per month per recruiter and he's already working on April's goals. I don't know if the increase is for region or an overall increase but he did say that they are running 100%+.
