Four more Shiite cult militants arrested in Iraq

KARBALA, Iraq (AFP) - Four members of a Shiite messianic cult which fought a fierce battle with security forces earlier this week were arrested in the central Iraqi shrine city of Karbala.

Karbala police chief Major General Mohammed Abu al-Walid said 25 militants were arrested across the city in a series of raids. Four of those detained were from the "Soldiers of Heaven" group, the militant Shiite cult.

At least 263 of the cult's fighters were killed and 502 arrested during fierce clashes with Iraqi forces near Najaf on Sunday.

The leader of the militia, who claimed to be a descendant of the Prophet Mohammed, was killed in the raging 24-hour battle that pitted gunmen against Iraqi security forces backed by US aircraft.

Walid said the latest crackdown included 45 ambushes, 330 foot patrols and the use of nearly 260 police vehicles.

"The operation was implemented in different regions of the province and relied on accurate intellegence information," he said.

Among those arrested was an engineer suspected of planting roadside bombs, called IEDs -- improvised explosive devices -- by US-led coalition forces in Iraq.

Walid said police also managed to thwart an attempt to kidnap an Iraqi citizen.

Well done. Treat 'em rough!

Regarding the first picture...
Why has the dead terrorist something written on his head? Is it a number for the death count or some "magic Mahdi cult tattoo"? Also his jacket looks interesting... Is it blood stains on his khaki jacket, or some homemade camouflage emulating US/Iraqi camo schemes?

Stop the arrests. Kill them. They have nothing we need . The WH wonders why good people are sick of this mess. The only thing they understand is force. So easy , even a cave man can do it.

I'm hopeing someone whose looks at this thread will be able to tell us what that is and what it means.

I totally agree. My "well done" comment was more in regards to the 263 terrorists killed.

I'm not an expert but there is an Islamic holy numerology, where numbers signify letters, so his number would reference something like that. It is called "Abjad".

For instance the 'abjad" number for Ali, the Prophet's son in law and major Imam/founder of the Shias is "110". Another special number is "1001" but I forget if it is Allah or something else.

This numberology is not a casting of the runes to see what the future holds as Western numerology tends to be but a code type transfer of letters and numbers.

A Shia Islamic sect in Arizona, trying to gather as many followers as possible and wage war on ALL religions, including Islamic ones other than their own, even has the Koran written mostly or partly in "abjad". I have been promised s copy to see but sources can often be very slow to keep promises.

The leader of this sect was assassinated about nine years ago by some Sunni Wahabbis, leading to their anti-everything other than us stance.

Gamer speak for OWNED, as in "I own you, dude!" Legend has it that it was derived by a mere keystroke error during some intensive game play. Generally used by soldiers to describe the fate of the worm food you have depicted above.
