I disagree. Throw the book at them. This was beyond stupid and goes into criminal.

Kids call in bomb threats at schools and disrupt classes, They are held criminally responsible. Whats good for kids is good for adults who should know better.

"Throw the book at them."

I agree with you, Sarge.

Bill them for the overtime and other expenses and give jail time to these "creative artists"!!!!

Did someone call in a bomb threat? From what I've read they were silly toys and didn't resemble a bomb in the slightest. Well ok maybe from a 1000 yds away with the sun on your eyes.

It was a stupid stunt and the yokels in Boston over reacted. The only thing they haven't done is blamed Bush, yet.

I don't think a reasonable person would have responded in such a manner and my bet the jury won't think so either.

So what you're saying is that if there exists somebody stupid enough to think that some object you've made is a bomb, you should be held criminally responsible?

What's especially sad is that the people *whose job it is to deal with bombs* actually thought these things could be a threat.

I agree ... some jail time and a bill to Turner Broadcasting for compensation of resources used.

Lame.

They didn't make any bomb threats. They didn't make a "device" that looked like a bomb.

Anyone with 3/4 a brain could tell what it was. It wasn't even in a box, everything was out in the open, easy to see what it was constructed of and what its function was.

Agreed. This cost the city a small fortune, and caused commuters a major inconvenience.

Yeah, someone puts up a light bright, let's jail them and throw away the key.

If you took one look at that thing and thought it was a bomb, you and anyone else who thinks it was a bomb is a blithering idiot.

No one puts lights on a bomb, ever. In the movies it may blink or whatever but real bombs don't advertise.

"Kids call in bomb threats at schools and disrupt classes, They are held criminally responsible."

Did somebody call in a "bomb threat"? If so, they need to be prosecuted big time. If not, then it is simply a prank gone wrong. They could get them for littering or advertising without a permit or some other relatively silly ordinance violation but the "bomb scare" was solely in the minds of passers by and the city itself.

If your trying to lug a few suitcases through the airport and a bag drops unnoticed as you continue on and a police officer sees an unattended "package" and calls the bomb squad and they evacuate the terminal, and they take 27 8x10 color glossy photographs with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explainin' what each one was to be used against you in a court of law.... should you be held responsible for the officer's overreaction?

Of course, he was acting on the side of caution but that doesn't mean we (as bag droppers) can't goof up from time to time anymore because of the events of 9/11.

Yeah, but was this a bomb threat? As I understand it the electronics in them were designed to call attention to a TV show and in no way could be construed as a attempt to cause panic.

I'm not saying Boston over-reacted but you can't charge people with crimes they didn't commit.

Welcome to the police state were advertising signs are automatically assumed to be terrorist weapons of mass destruction, and corporations are blamed for liberal politicians and their police force complet stupidity. These signs obviously posed no threat as they were only thick enough for the led's and battery that powered them. It was obvious that there was little room to put in a sufficient amount of explosive to kill anyone. On top of that Cartoon Network sent messages before hand telling them of their existance.

They were irresponsible for using such a guerrilla PR campaign, but it seems to have worked.

They can probably go after the schmos who planted the devises but the executives?

Under the current statutes:

What is the criminality?

Was there intent to create the situation?

I would find it hard believe any DA could convict (They could do the "ham-sandwich" indictment for sure)

Yeah, charge them with a violation of the sign ordinance and then execute them. That will show those Demicommies in Boston who is tough on terror!

Nonsense, it wasn't a bomb, it didn't look like a bomb, it was a totally irrational reaction by the nut-jobs that "protect" us. It had some lights and batteries - obvious - so to the dumb asses hired to protect us, it must be dangerous! Where is their sense? Soon a bulge in your pants will be a reason to capture or shoot you for being a danger to the public.
