WASHINGTON, D.C. — A plan by the Bush administration to release detailed and possibly damning specific evidence linking the Iranian government to efforts to destabilize Iraq have been put on hold, U.S. officials told FOX News.

Officials had said a "dossier" against Iran compiled by the U.S. likely would be made public at a press conference this week in Baghdad, and that the evidence would contain specifics including shipping documents, serial numbers, maps and other evidence which officials say would irrefutably link Iran to weapons shipments to Iraq.

Chances are this is a move by Maliki for some behind the scenes diplomacy. Another attack like last week on US forces will force Bush's hand in all this.

I still would appreciate it if Freepers would write their congressmen and demand action against Iran for supplying IEDs.

Well duh...why don't they release it?
Oh, it's politically INcorrect?
We need to negotiate with them first?

there is no one to write to

Senators including Hagel, George Voinovich, R-Ohio, and Joseph R. Biden Jr., D-Del., sounded frustrated with the administration's decision not to engage Iran and fellow outcast Syria in efforts to reduce sectarian violence in Iraq.

The White House is compiling evidence on Iran to present the case when the time is right.

The way I see it, there is going to be conflict with Iran sooner or later if ther isn't Persian regime change. I'm not holding my breath for the later.

The Administration is not going to release a report that illustrates their own impotence. There's no widespread support for an attack on Iran, and there's deep reservations about escalating tensions in the area. President Bush is on shaky ground as it is, and he knows it.

Admitting that Iran is pushing us around, while simultanenously not being able to do anything about it, is a lose/lose proposition.

bingo. Let's not forget, we've been "catching and releasing' red handed Iranian terrorists for quite some time now. That policy and keeping this info on the DL isn't out of left field. We're out of options.

And if the case isn't ever put to the public, and the Congress I guess, there won't ever BE any widespread report.

We are already at war with iran. They are materially assisting, and assiting with personnel, the enemies who are killing our soldiers and attempting to destablize and destroy the government of our allies in Iraq.

We should make that war as official as they are making it and quit playing word games, and quit worrying about the anti-war left. Either we go in to win, fighting the enemy in the open and defeating them abjectly and with extreme prejudice, and clamp down on the virulent anti-American fifth column here at home...or we will see our goals and the good we have accomplished vanish as we embolden enemies abroad and at home.

You have got to be kidding us...why hold it back.

Now, U.S. military officials say the decision to go public with the findings has been put on hold for several reasons, including concerns over the reaction from Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad — as well as inevitable follow-up questions that would be raised over what the U.S. should do about it.

So we are holding a report back because we are worried how Ahjimanut will react?

Oh for cripes sake....why don't we just conceded the PR field to the enemy and be done with it.

as well as inevitable follow-up questions that would be raised over what the U.S. should do about it.

Words fail me...

Bush doesn't have any more time to play diplomatic games with Iraq, that time has past. If the gloves don't come off now, pull the troops, there is no reason to keep subjecting them to fighting a war with their hands tied.

This is a major show of weakness ....after the ambassador announced that we would call Iran's bluff and prove the meddling.

I can't believe this stupidity.

Unfortunately Congress (especially in the Senate) is in the process of tying the President's hands and taking his powers away from him where Iraq and mostly Iran are concern so that the President cannot attack unless we are attacked first

IMO .. the games need to be stopped and the White House should lay their cards on the table and say you deal with it congress
