CBS News and Sports President Sean McManus says that gender bias may play a role in the disappointing ratings Katie Couric has been getting on "CBS Evening News.
"I think it is a fact there are probably people, both men and women, who are perhaps uncomfortable having a woman anchor the news, McManus told the media industry publication Broadcasting & Cable.
"The way she is scrutinized, I think sometimes unfairly, quite frankly, I think a lot of that has to do with gender.
McManus maintained that as a woman, Couric has to be concerned about "a lot of things the male anchor doesnt have to worry about, like how she looks or what she is wearing.
But McManus said the network has no plans to make any major changes in the nightly broadcast in the near future.
McManus gender bias remarks echo comments that Larry King made recently about Couric and her ratings.

How about someone put up all the pictures of the Fox news babes. Including my fave Lauren Green (sp?). Any one of them would command huge ratings if given a chance.

The fact that Couric just sucks probably doesn't have a thing to do with her low ratings.

Then how do you explain Babwa Wawa?
Or Paula Lason or whatever her name is?
Or Oprah?
I personally don't watch any of these liberal twits but it's not an issue of "gender". People just don't like Katie.

Gender?
How about the fact that Couric is the biggest lying b*tch on TV? At the most dishonest, document forging news show on TV?
To: Ben Mugged
Or the fact that next to her, Geraldo Rivera is a heavyweight journalist.

Women anchor the news on cable channels so this argument just doesn't wash.
It is the person Katie Couric people do not like, not her gender.

or her obviously phony personality.

They made the wrong choice and they're blaming us. There are many more qualified female anchors out there that are very watchable.

Of course, did anyone expect any other explanation?
It's the same reason we all dislike Hillary - we can't stand and "opinionated" or "strong" woman.

I think it is a fact there are probably people, both men and women, who are perhaps uncomfortable having a woman anchor the news Well then, imagine how they must feel about having Hillary as President? Both are way overrated

BooHoo! I'm a victim! A poor female victim with a multi-million dollar contract! It's not fair! Make them like me!

CBS is the one who made this all about Katie Couric being a woman. It's a little late to be crying over that one.

Stick Laurie Dhue in her spot and she would win the ratings war each night. So yes it has to do with gender....and men and women not wanting to listen to the droopy, bitter harpie Katie.
