8 men arrested in 1971 killing of police officer in San Francisco Black Panthers linked to slaying By Marcus Wohlsen, Associated Press | January 24, 2007 SAN

FRANCISCO -- Eight men were arrested yesterday in the 1971 killing of a police officer that authorities say was part of a black power group's five-year effort to attack and kill law enforcement officers in San Francisco and New York. Police said seven of the eight are believed to be former members of the Black Liberation Army, an offshoot of the Black Panther Party.

I didn't see this posted anywhere. It's hard to believe nowadays that these things were actually happening. It's as if history just ignored it. I certainly never heard of it in school or growing up. I did hear about some crazy chic trying to plant a bomb under a police cruiser during this time frame..some semi-famous case I think where she later turned herself in.

You probably can well guess the reason why black crimes are under-reported. It is because the liberal ejakashunall establishment doesn't want to provide fodder for 'white racism'. Iow, teaching kids that the Black Panthers were a racist, murdering, marxist, totalitarian group will turn all the kiddies into Ku Klux Klanners.

Also, many kids of whatever race might wonder why Jesse Jackson always fails to denounce hate crimes committed by people of color.

The so-called long arm of the law. They should be hanged...after a fair trial of course.

Yes, Mr. Hanlon, this IS a "prosecution based on vengeance and hate from the '60's". These black TERRORISTS (NOT "militants") hated Caucasians and traditional American values and used violence to achieve their Soviet Communist-inspired ends. One thing we have now that we didn't have then, however, is the Internet, so your pathetic attempts to flummox us will go nowhere!

People like these are the reason COINTELPRO was established by the FBI. You may thank the members of the CHURCH COMMITTEE and their ilk for derailing this program and a subsequent variety of other programs since....right up to current-day INTEL programs initiated in response to 9-11.

COINTELPRO is an acronym for a series of FBI counterintelligence programs designed to neutralize political dissidents. Although covert operations have been employed throughout FBI history, the formal COINTELPRO's of 1956-1971 were broadly targeted against radical political organizations. In the early 1950s, the Communist Party was illegal in the United States. The Senate and House of Representatives each set up investigating committees to prosecute communists and publicly expose them. (The House Committee on Un-American Activities and the Senate Internal Security Subcommittee, led by Senator Joseph McCarthy). When a series of Supreme Court rulings in 1956 and 1957 challenged these committees and questioned the constitutionality of Smith Act prosecutions and Subversive Activities Control Board hearings, the FBI's response was COINTELPRO, a program designed to "neutralize" those who could no longer be prosecuted. Over the years, similar programs were created to neutralize civil rights, anti-war, and many other groups, many of which were said to be "communist front organizations." As J. Edgar Hoover, longtime Director of the FBI, put it

The forces which are most anxious to weaken our internal security are not always easy to identify. Communists have been trained in deceit and secretly work toward the day when they hope to replace our American way of life with a Communist dictatorship. They utilize cleverly camouflaged movements, such as peace groups and civil rights groups to achieve their sinister purposes. While they as individuals are difficult to identify, the Communist party line is clear. Its first concern is the advancement of Soviet Russia and the godless Communist cause. It is important to learn to know the enemies of the American way of life.

The FBI conducted more than 2000 COINTELPRO operations before the the programs were officially discontinued in April of 1971, after public exposure, in order to "afford additional security to [their] sensitive techniques and operations."

It was big news here in SF when it happened, Ingleside police station is just a couple blocks from my high school in Balboa Park. Later on, when I was working with SFPD I got to examine the door for that police station, now in the evidence room (still there now). The door is riddled with shotgun blasts. Current news reports only mention how the black guys stuck a shotgun through a hole in a window at the front desk to kill Sergeant John Young; but they did a lot more havoc than is being reported in current articles.

Headline: 8 men arrested in 1971 killing of police officer in San Francisco Black Panthers linked to slaying By Marcus Wohlsen

In marin county in 1970: In 1970 Davis was implicated by more than 20 witnesses in a plot to free her imprisoned lover, fellow Black Panther and prison thug George Jackson, by hijacking a Marin County, California courtroom and taking the judge, the prosecuting assistant district attorney, and two jurors hostage. In an ensuing gun battle outside the court building, Judge Harold Haley's head was blown off by a sawed-off shotgun owned by Ms. Davis. To avoid arrest for her alleged complicity in the plot (she supplied the hijackers with a small arsenal, but claimed not to know the purposes for which it was used) Ms. Davis fled California, where she used aliases and changed her appearance to avoid detection. Two months later she was arrested by the FBI in New York City.

Track back one more year, and there's the Tate-LaBianca murders (1969) and Charlie Manson's wide-spread, black-white race wars and an Armageddon he called "Helter Skelter"

Track back again one more year: The Zodiac killer preceded even these. It was speculated that he was black because only whites were murdered (began in 1968).
