"He said Americans pay $15 billion in taxes to help care for the uninsured."

Oh, so now the Democrats are proposing another program to solve the problem they created with Medicare? And who's going to pay for the health insurance?

"He said Americans pay $15 billion in taxes to help care for the uninsured." ""

I really love the casual spreading around of "statistics" that everyone with a microphone nearby seems able to do.

If $15 billion is spent to care for the uninsured, just what is the expected cost for insuring everybody? I went a number of years without any health care. I am basically a well person, as are many in the USA. But we all have seen people get a real case of doctoritis when they or their spouse gets a generous health care plan.
I did have a small accident when I was not insured, but 13 years of insurance premiums of over $500/month (Over $85,000) for a single white female with no history of anything chronic, etc, was far more than the $9,000 bill for a broken wrist which required surgery.
I say it again: We allowed some very greedy people to "fix" what wasn't broken: The American health care system. The HMO's system doesn't work near as well as going to the doctor when you NEED to, not when you are bored and expecting magic in your life. 20 year olds are the gatekeepers, docs are paying more malpractice insurance, and they are being rold how much they are allowed to make by administrators who make millions.
Truly, the inmates are in charge of the asylum...
