As he and his colleagues noted the historic significance of Rep. Nancy Pelosi's presence on the dais as the first woman speaker of the House, Gibson said that he and Stephanopoulos had shared a laugh earlier about whether she and Vice President Cheney would coordinate their outfits. I haven't checked the transcripts from years past, but I'm quite certain Gibson--or any of his colleagues--never joked about Dennis Hastert conferring with Cheney about tie patterns. (And I'll bet Katie Couric had the sense to avoid it, having been the subject of much sartorial scrutiny herself.)
What was worth commenting on, however, was the contrast in blinks per minute between Pelosi and Cheney. While Pelosi clocked a good 25-30 blinks per minute, Cheney barely mustered 3 or 4. If energy conservation is a personal virtueas he once said so dismissivelyCheney is a saint. The man functions admirably on standby power.

Good Grief, the President gave an outstanding speech and all I've seen is grief given to an out of place woman.
I watched the speech, I focused on the President, whatever Pelosi did or didn't do wasn't what I watched for.
I thought some freeper clocked her at about 60 b/s. She must have some pretty massive blink muscles for that. We should put a windmill in front of her and generate some juice.
This is not accurate . I tabbed her at 80+ /min. more than once . Somtimes they panned to the crowd in the middle of a minute , but she kept on blinkin'
I tried to point it out during the Cheney/Edwards debate in 2004, but that liar, er lawyer blinked a WHOLE LOT every time he answered the panel.
I think that both of these are intentional tactics to "dis" the President.
It was true, it was very distracting behind President Bush, and her hair was in her eye also.
But they should have. At least here in IL, Hastert has a terrible image.
Very interesting. Representative Pelosi exhibits pathological behavior and Vice President Cheney is castigated.
Sure the media is impartial.

In Animal House, the Deltas coughed "B******" under their breath when Dean Wermer listed the offenses they were charged with.

"Maintained eye contact can show if a person is trustworthy, sincere or caring. Shifty eyes, too much blinking can suggest deception. "

That's unfortunate. Perhaps you missed the part where she and her fellow Dems failed to stand and applaud when the President mentioned victory. The speech mattered....so did the reaction it received from both sides.
Just one reason why I love Dick Cheney. I wish God had made a few more of him.
