"my Siberian husky seems to regard them as kinfolks."

Make sure the Siberian doesn't intrude on their territory, though. They're very territorial.

My Brother In Law has regular bear incursions into his hill-side property in LaVerne. Found one in the swimming pool once. They tend to raise havoc by killing birds in his many aviaries. IIRC, he also has mountain lion problems.

"Why does the Coyote always buy his stuff from those guys? There stuff never works."

Why does the country buy stuff from the Democrats?

Apparently using the Acme Spell Checker.

Well, Hancock Park is a pretty upscale neighborhood and it is several miles from the closest hills. So seeing coyotes in that area would be a bit unexpected.

Shoot shovel and shutup. It worked back in the San Joaquin Valley where I grew up, and it'd work fine in LA.

I remember one hot summer night driving on Mullholland above Studio City....we had the windows down and one run up next to us in the car and kept pace until he ran town a trail. It was surreal. I liked hearing them yelp.

"On Friday, a man at Alta Vista [Boulevard] and 1st Street had to sit in his car and wait for them to leave before he could get out."

Just shoot them.

Apparently using the Acme Spell Checker.

Actually that would require the 'ACME grammar' checker. The misused word was spelled correctly, just careless typing on my part.

You will also note that I did correct it.

What is the problem? Coyotes are part of nature.

These people have obviously infringed on their territory with their homes and roads and such. They need to move and give the land back to the coyotes!

Ya'll know I'm being sarcastic, right?

Get some traps and bait them with roadrunners and you'll catch them all.

I remember reading something about coyotes and their ability to adapt and thrive around people and their dwellings in a way that wolves and other animals couldn't. Apparently Wile E. was an unusually dull example of the species. One more good reason to keep cats indoors.

I got a bunch near me that I call "The Choirboys", it's a nice sound once you get used to it. You almost never see them though, since they're still hunted here.

When they know they're safe, they're bold critters.

Oh, they're hunted here too. So are bobcats. It's extremely rare to see either one.

We had a bunch of my dad's buddies hunting bobcats with dogs on the farm last Saturday. We went with 'em last Feb.

What a hoot!

Authorities offer assurances that attacks on humans are rare. Still, the coyotes have caused concern in the neighborhood. ?

In related news the number of missing cats and yappy little dogs has increased considerably

We have bobcats too. There was a cougar that got treed down the road, and bears show up from time to time.

Here in Panama City, FL we've had a bunch of reports in the news of coyotes coming up around houses and stealing food that people put out for their dogs....in broad daylight.

Ah, yes. The photogenic face of the "Canadian Prarie Wolf." Their pelts make wonderful fur ruffs on jacket hoods. Less expensive than timber wolf, just as warm.
