Federal Way schools restrict Gore film 'Inconvenient Truth' called too controversial
The Seattle PI ^ | January 11, 2007 | Robert McClure AND Lisa Stiffler

This week in Federal Way schools, it got a lot more inconvenient to show one of the top-grossing documentaries in U.S. history, the global-warming alert "An Inconvenient Truth."

After a parent who supports the teaching of creationism and opposes sex education complained about the film, the Federal Way School Board on Tuesday placed what it labeled a moratorium on showing the film. The movie consists largely of a computer presentation by former Vice President Al Gore recounting scientists' findings.

Federal Way is located between Seattle (San Francisco-lite) and Tacoma.

Even though the article is ten days old, the moratorium mentioned ends tomorrow.

I don't feel the halt should have been over bible issues. The lunacy of Gore should have been the reason.

The movie's producer mentioned in the article has offered 50,000 DVD’s free to schools. It is my understanding Linda Froschauer, president of the National Science Teachers Association turned it down because it is too political.

The classroom educator's guide includes such assertions as, "If the warming continues, we can expect catastrophic consequences. Deaths from global warming will double in just 25 years -- to 300,000 people a year."

Amazing, where is the evidence and concern 150,000 per year are now dying?

Not a little dig here, I wonder what group she can represent to have this pointed out so sharply?...

"top-grossing documentaries in U.S. history"

Can this be verified? I mean the top-grossing part. We know it's no documentary.

"Warning: Al Gore and his companies such as Generation Investment Management will profit from Carbon-based gimmick markets"

I don't feel the halt should have been over bible issues.

The halt had nothing to do with Bible issues. That was the "reporter's" way of discrediting the people who were opposed to algore's alarmist propaganda being presented in school as if it were established and verifiable fact.

My church is showing this movie on Saturday. There is a big cold front coming in this weekend.

God is good.

There's no evidence of that of which I am aware, although the omission of such discussion should alarm people a lot more than global warming.

Who decides where the wealth transfer goes?
The delusionals studiously avoid the question.

Making me wonder, is the reason it is one of the top-grossing documentaries in U.S. history because schools are showing it?

They are playing it here in Phoenix AZ at my sisters 8 grade school.

In a few years this movie will be the standard for all to see, that glob warming (Brought to you by a little known dem just trying to save the world.) is real and 100% man caused.

If you question it you will pay the price. There will be no more discussion.

All the schools are run by libs. This movie will be a limpness tests to see if you toe the line.

I fear the PUTUS will cave tomorrow on this issue just to “get ahead of it”

Frankly I think ALL schools should show An Inconvenient Truth, the movie Super Size Me and Leni Riefenstahl's movie about the 1936 Olympics in Berlin. They are all perfect examples of, and would engender a great discussion about, propaganda.

Thanks for that link, that is great. I sent it to a local envirowhacko who this week had a glowing expose about Gore's movie in the local paper.
