I suppose I'm confused. I see articles posted all the time that use the headline to convey something from inside the article. Regardless, it seems like a silly quibble given that it's a line from the article itself.
For example, you could have done it this way:
Space shot diverts US eyes from rogue states[China has achieved technical superiority over the United States in space]
Italics and such imply that is your own feeling on the article or you are implying something.
However to post something that is not the article title, is changing the creation of the article itself.
You wanna run a search for all of the text in an article before you post it? Using the article's headline cuts down on duplicates.
You said -- "I suppose I'm confused. I see articles posted all the time that use the headline to convey something from inside the article. Regardless, it seems like a silly quibble given that it's a line from the article itself."
Yes you are confused. A *title* is the "title given" by the paper or author. The title is *not* the title given by you. That's your confusion. You are not allowed to pick or make up a title no matter where else you may find the combination of words. The words used will be the words chosen by the paper, article, magazine and/or author.
So, with that being the "given" -- I went and looked at the article and it was *clearly* indicated as --
Space shot diverts US eyes from rogue states
in *no unambiguous way*.

I concur.
Not silly. You are supposed to do a search before posting something to prevent duplicate threads. Posting with the original article title allows a article to be found in a search. Posting with a new title, no matter how accurate, is counter productive.
