Any idea if this road has a grade.

It's like they are sliding down hill.

I live in the Ohio snow belt so this looks like a pretty mild snow fall to me.

I learned to drive in West Virginia, in the winter, in a 1978 Ford Pinto. I had a very patient dad. But I never hit anything, and I have never had a problem anywhere since then- not even in Seattle, where crappy drivers make the excuse that "the snow is different here." BS. Snow is snow... the only thing different is that Seattleites don't know how to frigging drive in the stuff. Or the rain either.

They're probably sliding down Queen Anne - that's a steep 'un there in Seattle.

"Amateur Hour at the Rialto", if you ask me.

Any self-respecting Michigander or Buckeye would just shake his/her head in bewilderment at these West Coast idiots!

No wonder my old Cincy friend of over 60 years is absolutely convinced that the states of Oregon and Kalifornia are destined to slide into the Pacific Ocean -- and none too soon, if the rest of the Republic is to be saved from self-destruction. **S**

There wasn't much snow. The problem was the freezing rain underneath. This was in Portland but we had the freezing rain over most of Western Oregon today - though I have seen worse.

On a sheet of ice on even a slight grade like that one, once you allow gravity to overcome your traction it is very difficult to get it back. There is a place that used to be on my daily commute that is a banked curve where cars would often slide to the lower curb if they were going too slow.

That said, this video is too funny. Going uncontrolled from one pileup halfway around the block and into another pileup is something I haven't seen before. It looks like they might have been trying to escape sliding to the bottom of the hill, hence the semi controlled powering onto the side street.

This sort of reminds me of a video, also from Portland, from a few years ago where a vehicle was driving downhill on a residential street trying to escape a mudslide. It has been on several TV shows and can probably be found on Youtube.
