Me, too. That was a sad story. I really feel for the Stayner parents. What an ordeal, or rather series of ordeals, they've been through.

HI gang, gonna try this again. I had just started to post when the power went out! Went out about 7:20 and just came back. I'm just hoping and praying it wasn't a harbinger of things to come. We're facing a major icestorm here in Missouri.

Isn't it wonderful about the two young boys rescued in St. Louis today!!

Yep, and Cary's conviction as the Yosemite killer of three: one woman, her daughter and the daughter's friend. Terrible.

George W. Bush is nothing like Ronald Reagan but both suffered vicious attacks by Democrats and the media.

They trashed Reagan as a stupid man, with no ability to concentrate ... a man who was controlled by is HANDLERS..

Note they never really told us who his handlers were.. but they credited Peggy Noonan and for a while Pat Buchanan as the source of the words that came out of his mouth.. He was just an old Hollywood actor that could read lines but not ever create them.

It always amused me that both Noonan and Buchanan after leaving the white house never again wrote anything as good as they did when they "Wrote" for Reagan. What was amazing is that they must have been dictating words in Reagan ears years earlier because the radio scripts written in Reagan's own hand were equally as good as the ones supposedly written by Noonan and Buchanan.

It mention this because, today it is next to impossible to find a word written in the last six years that does not portray Reagan as a fantastic president and brilliant man.

President Bush has seen what happened to the Reagan reputation over the years. He has also seen what has happened to the Clinton reputation over the last 6 years.

Reagan who lead by trying to persuade voters to his point of view, is now a great president, while Clinton who bowed to ever poll that revealed public opinion, is now thought of as a light weight president.

What really ticks the Democrats and the media off, is they can control public opinion, but they cannot control what President George W. Bush does. They know from long hard experience that they cannot control a presidents legacy and long term reputation.

That angers the media more than words can say. With President George W. Bush ... they are powerless. The harder they try the less influence they have on the conduct of events.

No one has ever angered the media as much. The thing to remember is they are powerless. The press hated Richard Nixon and brought him down. The press hates George W. Bush and are totally unable to bring him down.

They have a combined feeling of powerlessness and hatred for George W. Bush. They just don't understand him. They never will. It takes a sense of history and an understanding of a strong moral code to understand Peresident Bush. The Democrats and Media lack both.

Hard to find a formidable candidate to run against her. She's been lucky.

Very well said, Common Tator. A person with character can be assaulted and criticized, but no one can destroy their legacy. Some people recognize that legacy as it's happening. Others recognize it and try to destroy it, but can't. And still others will be surprised by it when they read it in their grandchildren's history books. I believe as you do that this is the case with GW. He's a man of character, and I for one am very grateful that he's in the White House and pray often for another like him to be there in 2008.
