DNC: "Duncan Hunter Out of Touch on Iraq"(Demonrats on attack)
PRNewswire ^ | 1/11/06 | DNC

Posted on 01/12/2007 6:26:34 AM PST by bushfamfan

Following is a release from the Democratic National Committee: Gearing up for a long shot presidential bid, California Congressman Duncan Hunter is taking a cue from the current president on the critical issue of Iraq. Despite the opposition of military leaders, foreign policy experts, and the American people, Duncan Hunter is backing the president's latest increase of more than 20,000 American troops for the Iraqi civil war. Hunter's position on the war stands in stark opposition to the views of the American people, according to a new Washington Post/ABC News poll taken after Bush's speech that finds that "Americans broadly reject President Bush's plan for a surge of U.S. forces into Iraq." Just 36 percent agree with Hunter in supporting President Bush's plan, while "barely three in 10 accept Bush's assertion that a troop increase now will end the war more quickly." [ABC News, 1/11/07] "By backing the president's escalation of the war in Iraq, Duncan Hunter has made it clear he's not interested in the will of the American people nor in the reality confronting our troops in Iraq," said Democratic National Committee Spokesman Luis Miranda. "Foreign policy experts and military leaders have broadly criticized the latest troop increase. The American people have made it clear they want a new direction in Iraq, not another troop increase that keeps our brave men and women in uniform bogged down in the Iraqi civil war."

The DNC on the attack against Duncan Hunter, LOL. Naturally, they know he's not a "chicken hawk" as he himself is a decorated Vietnam vet(did you know he was in Vietnam? And not a traitor like the DNC offers up!) with a son who did two tours in Iraq with the Marine Corps(he has ties to the current war as his son served his country honorably). They also know how outspoken he is, how he has been chairman of the armed services committee and specialized in national security. I do find it amusing that they have their sights on Duncan Hunter! And I have no doubt they would seriously fear what kind of candidate he would be against their weaklings. They are so used to Republicans sitting back and taking their shots. Here's to hoping they get their worst nightmare.

Duncan Hunter has to use this attack to his advantage to gain more and visibility. So far, if he is running for Prez in '08, he's got my vote.

You know you are over the target when you are catching flak.

Right on! I am on the fence when it comes to throwing my support for Hunter, I want to see more of how he handles himself while being under constant fire like Bush is. Our next Republican President has to wear an asbestos suit & be able to walk through the fire!

This is EXCELLENT news! If the Dems are paying attention to Congressman Hunter, it means they're afraid of him....

Stories like this make my day!

Fair enough. I like to post things about him so people keep him in mind with the primaries and not just write it off to Rudy McRomney. I think many will like what they see and hear. He's a CIC if there ever was one!

Good this means Duncan is doing something right! If the DNC attacks him than that means he's getting under their skin! Good for Duncan!

Not to forget: Note how the Dems always hide THEIR and the media's opinons behind phrases like "the American people", "the international community" and "the simple man". This smacks of Soviet Propaganda.

Me too. I've already given to his PAC and will throw some more his way after his official announcement.

He's going to need A LOT, though.

Evidently, the DNC has done some generic polling on the issues and Hunter keeps getting on the right side of the issues that matter to the American pipple. That's my take.

I share your pain. We have to fight this war on two fronts - foreign and domestic. So sad. See my tagline.

Keep fighting the good fight to save America from these people we charitably citizens.

Call them on it when you are in public....no more Mr/Ms Nice Guy...no more politically correct...I'm standing up to these people everywhere I find them.

I think Hunter would be the Dems worst nightmare. He'd lock up the right, excite the conservative base, and pull in lots of Yellow Dogs, especially if he runs against The Witch or Hussein Obama.
