More antigun agitprop. No mention of legal gun ownership vs. illegal gun onwership, no mention of justifiable homicides vs. murders, no mention of lives saved vs. lives taken. In other words, just what we can expect from Academia, and eagerly reported by Roto-Rooters.

Consider the source of the study: Harvard.

Consider the source of the article: ROOOOOOTERS ~ Giving smoke and mirrors a bad name since 1937.

Quick let's ban all guns and save all of the children. It came from Harvard so you know there won't be a slant to this report.

Did the study also say that per-capita deaths in major blue dem controlled thresholds were also greater?

Hi All,

Gee, and guess what Harvard & Reuters? Anyone who "owns" a firearm and shoots someone without just cause is a filthy criminal who should be jailed or executed. So there you go, straight from another REAL gunowner.

No doubt that law abiding citizens will feel a greater need to own guns if they live in high crime areas.

...American states where more people own guns have higher murder rates...

Well if I lived where there were a lot of murders I'd want to protect myself with a gun too! Now does that cart go before or after that horse?

based on how many households had guns,

If what they looked is the total number of households that own guns then the most populous states would be in the top quarter and the least populous states would be in the bottom quarter. Then all that the study shows is that the homicide rate is higher in more populous states.

The study was partially funded by the Joyce Foundation, in Chicago, which has "gun violence" as one of its agenda items:

"The Gun Violence Program supports efforts to bring the firearms industry under comprehensive consumer product health and safety oversight..."

Nowhere on their Web site could I find the names of its board members.

However, when I Googled the Joyce Foundation, lo and behold!!!:

"A notable recent member of the Joyce Foundation's Board of Directors was Barack Obama, who ran successfully as the Democratic candidate for an Illinois Senate seat in 2004."

And check out who they've funded...

More guns equal more murders in U.S. states

how about this for a headline?

More spoons equal more fat people in U.S. states

If guns kill people, then spoons make Mikhail Moore fat. Have you seen Al Gore lately? His keyster is growing and it is because of spoons. If someone does not attempt to ban spoons, who knows what will happen to Rosie O'Donnell. The main opponent to banning spoons is Oprah Winfrey's Surgeon Dr. Lipo Suction. Dr. Lipo Suction has been accused of opposing the spoon ban because of monetary reasons.

American states where more people own guns have higher murder rates,

Horsehockey.

You take Detroit out of Michigan and you've got utopia.

I'll rephrase it for the writer and those in Rio Linda:

"American states where more people are liberals have higher murder rates."

"More than 200 million guns are privately owned in the United States, according to the Justice Department."

That number is way too low.

After dividing the states into four groups based on how many households had guns,

Not a very good way to do this kind of analysis. Different areas in different states have huge differences in homicide rates and gun ownership. A more precise way is to look at it county by county. They will find more guns equal less crime.

Just like they STiLL use that book with the 100% fraudlent and made up history of the revolutionary era USA.

this are pure bread leftists who hate individualism.

They support fake but accurate as a way of accademic legitimacy if the goal is leftist.

American states where more people own guns have higher murder rates, including murders of children, researchers at the Harvard School of Public Health reported on Thursday.

Well, where's their study showing states with more; African Americans, Hispanics, poverty, illegal immigrants, high school dropouts and pit bulls have higher murder rates?
