You're kidding, right? We regularly use mobile cranes with lift capacities in excess of 100t. Could only imagine the lift of, say, a fixed harbor crane.

I'm totally serious. We have cranes that can lift hundreds of tons, however, to place 70 ton stones where they are in the Pyramid, they would have to be lifted to a height of 250-300 feet at a radius of over 300 feet.

I think any crane capable of doing that would have to be specially built for the task.

Outstanding job on the part of the Egyptians and their slaves but...how does that demonstrate they did something we are incapable of?

It's mere existence, for one. We're not building much of anything now that will preservere for over 4000 years. Our concrete begins to degrade in appoximately 150 years. And if the Pyramid had not been stripped of its polished limestone facing over the millenia, it would be in even better condition today.

The most famous undisturbed Pazyryk burial so far recovered is the "Ice Maiden" found by archaeologist Natalia Polosmak in 1993, a rare example of a single woman given a full ceremonial wooden chamber-tomb in the 5th century BCE, accompanied by six horses. It had been buried over 2,400 years ago in a casket fashioned from the hollowed-out trunk of a larch tree.

That is an incredibly interesting story. She must have been the wife or daughter of a king or the equivalent. I have a question though; wasn't the 5th century BCE about 7,000 years ago? Yet it then says she was buried about 2,400 years ago. 2,400 is more in line with the 2,000 yr old corpse of the Pazyryk warrior in the article above. The stated times are confusing.

Or you could just bury the Pyramid in 300 ft of dirt/sand and haul the stone up to the top on a dirt ramp... then dig away the dirt when your done.... problem solved!
