Somalia: Four Killed in an Ambush Attack Against Ethiopian Troops in Mogadishu
Shabelle Media Network ^ | January 8 2006 | Aweys Osman Yusuf

Gunmen in the Somali capital Mogadishu ambushed an Ethiopian and Somali convoy on Sunday evening. The convoy was passing by KM4 Junction at the center of the town.

At least four persons, two of the allied forces and two civilians, were killed, while a dozen more were wounded after a number of unidentified gunmen threw explosives and opened fire indiscriminately at the Ethiopian and Somali government forces. The exchange of gunfire lasted 10 minutes.

The terrifying sounds of the explosions and gunshots could be heard throughout the southern part of the capital last night.

Although the Ethiopian troops are not so visible in the streets of Mogadishu, ambush attacks against them have mounted lately.

Several times in the past, they were attacked with hand and propelled grenades while passing at south and north of Mogadishu.

Insurgency

Analysts say the insurgency, which is slowly beginning in the capital may be linked to the video message from the second al-Qaeda leader, who recently urged Muslim extremists in the world and the Somali people themselves to attack and kill the Ethiopian troops in Somalia and prevent Western interests in the Horn of Africa.

I wonder how many of the unidentified gunmen survived the exchange and how vigorously were they pursued? The only way to stop this sort of thing is kill them to a man every time they try one of these attacks.

As so it begins.....

Until the non-Muslim world can learn to kill these Islamist bastards in horrifying numbers --- Jihad will hold a romantic grip on the Jihadist..

When he sees that it brings unbearable levels of death and destruction to him, his family his homeland ---- PERHAPS his lust for Jihad will cool for another century of so....

Rarely in the history of man, has there been a people so undeserving of respect or mercy than the militant Islamist.

We may win battles....but winning battles does not a winning war make.

We think in terms wars lasting a few yeas.

Islam thinks in terms of centuries. They don't have attention deficit disorder.

Ethiopia should have took out the trash when it had the chance. You do not negotiate with Islamofascists.

Totally predictable. Ethiopia will rue the day it acted...and the US will get the blame for encouraging them to get involved.

The high fiving on FR was, as usual, premature.

It is high time we use their religion against them. They fight because they believe it is their ticket to heaven, yet they also believe they will not go to heaven if they are defiled with pork flesh. If we take captives and dump them in a pit of pig guts right before we execute them (Pershing style), it will take away their incentive to fight. The risk will become too great.

It's not going to happen. Ethiopia fought the terrorists only because they were protecting their border. They have already told the Somali government that they're on their own, and already the fledgling government is giving an olive branch to the terrorists.

Exactly, although nowadays sticking a guy on a short stake is probably unnecessary. Head on a pike would be more than sufficient.!

It's interesting that the Turks only tried to invade Wallachia (I think that was his province) once and then avoided it ever since.

Looks like Clinton left a lot of dirty work there to be cleaned up.

We always wind up cleaning up Democrat messes, get blamed for it and then get voted out of office when the media goes full bore and loses any sense of credibility and goes Pravda on our a$$.

Two "allied forces" were killed, whatever that means. Maybe Ethiopian, maybe Somali government forces.

I don't think the Ethiopians are messing around. I imagine the casualties were heavy on the other side.

I presume the reporter is a Muslim, eager to start up the "insurgent" propaganda game. I doubt whether the Ethiopians will respond in the same stupid way that we did when that happened.

And it even sounds as if maybe Bush has toughened the rules of engagement in Iraq. It sounds as if we may finally go after some of those "insurgents," and the hell with the whining press.

"get voted out of office when the media goes full bore.."

Don't blame only the media - the CINOs are just as despicable.

Some people jump off the bandwagon when it's no longer "trendy".

Even those who say they're not influenced by the media are to some degree, the constant drumbeat of liberalism is like a magnetic force. Those who cannot think for themselves go along with what they believe the majority feels.

premature? don't think it was high fives but just the satisfaction of seeing the good guys kill some bad guys... war is hell... there will be more folks killed on both sides....problem is the libs, rinos, demorats and msm (pure crap) don't think we're the good guys. Guess we'll have to wait and see who really gets their a$$ kicked.
