FNC's 'Beltway Boys' Call GOP Anti-Illegal Immigration Stand 'Dumbest Move' of 2006

Posted by Tim Graham on January 3, 2007 - 14:59.

Just to prove that Fox News Channel doesn't live up to the liberal stereotype of Music to Conservative Ears, angry E-mailers are demanding someone denounce Fred Barnes and Morton Kondracke for slamming conservatives who staunchly oppose illegal immigration. In their year-end Beltway Boys "awards show" this weekend, there was this clip of agreement:

Kondracke: "Our 'Dumbest Move' award of the year is Republicans trashing immigrants. And this - this has disastrous consequences for the, in the election. The Hispanic vote, which is the fastest-growing element of the population, went 55 to 42 percent Democratic in 2004. This time, it went 76 to 26. And it's all because of this stupid wall that the House Republicans wanted to build, and rejected their own president's plan for a comprehensive immigrant reform in preference to cozying up to radio talk show hosts."

Barnes: "I don't think it's the wall, per se. I think it's their whole attitude toward immigrants in general, but particularly Hispanic immigrants. It seemed mean-spirited, and, you know, American voters are generally not mean-spirited. You, you're going to have some kind of a wall at some point, but you have to a lot of other things, too."

Kondracke: "Yes. The wall only is the problem."

Later, the Beltway Boys also slammed CNN's Lou Dobbs:

Kondracke: "‘Blowhard of the Year’ award goes to CNN's Lou Dobbs. Now this is a guy who also could qualify for Turncoat of the Year."

Barnes: "Yes."

Kondracke: "When he used to be a cheerleader for capitalism and for corporate America. Now he is a demagogue, it amounts for populists and potectionists and xenophobes. And he doesn't have any answers."

Barnes: "And he's wrong. You know, the fact is, the rolling up our borders and pulling out of the globalized economy is a way to achieve one thing: a lower standard of living."

Kondracke: "Yes. Poverty. Yes, exactly. Absolutely."

"Personally I'm getting tired of Freepers (and others) who see immigration as the sole issue of our time."

AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW how sorry I feel for you. (not)

When some scumbag who hires illegals constantly underbids you and pulls $20,000 or $50,000 or more off of your dinner table each year you might just feel differently.

"I hope they push some immigration bill through Congress this year so we can put this issue behind us."

...and letting 20+ million plus six dependents EACH who are likely to vote Dumocratc, become US citizens will help the Republican party how.....?

"llegals steal jobs while on welfare...
spread disease while receiving the best health care for free...
commit crimes while filling our prisons."

__________________________________________________________

Do you deny that illegals and the scumbags who hire them do not pay their fair share of taxes, FICA, workmans comp / insurance thus have an unfair business advantage over those LEGIT business owners who willingly choose to play by the rules and obey the law?

Do you deny that hospitals across the country are going under because they can not absorb the cost of supplying "free" medical care to illegals?

Do you deny the fact that in some areas of the country illegals make up 1/3rd of the prison population?

"Got any ideas? "

I was thinking of organizing a committee to stand outside the voting booths across the US and hand out free tacos to everyone who votes Republican. Or maybe send KarLaRazaRove over to La Raza as a guest speaker with a well lubed anus and plead the case to "the Race"........oops...we already did that, right?

We might have a chance....a very slim one if we just stick by our guns and do what's right and obey / enforce the laws of our land and not re-write them in an effort to be politically expedient.

Let me ask you this:

Without secure borders...what will happen when these 20+ million illegals are made legal with the wave of GWB's magic wand....and our borders are NOT secured? How long do you think the scumbags who hired these illegals for cheaper wages will hold on to their newly made LEGAL workers when (as the latest government estimate 10 million came across last year) more "cheaper" help is constantly streaming across our borders?
Are you ready for the tax hike coming to pay for 20+ million asshats who'll be out of work in 2 years? These newly made LEGAL workers will be replaced at the drop of a dime.

"I think it's their whole attitude toward immigrants in general, but particularly Hispanic immigrants.

Notice how the word "illegal" is omitted. Everyone is in favor of legal immigrants. The objection is about illegal immigrants. Even that term does not exactly describe what is happening. These are workers exploiting an open border, the benefits of the U.S. economy, and a generous welfare system. By playing the system, they can reduce their cost of living on U.S. welfare benefits while amassing untracked wealth in Mexican bank accounts that yield higher interest than U.S. banks. By accumulating sufficient wealth with a few years of work, they can retire in a life of luxury on the Mexican economy. There is no desire for them to become U.S. citizens. They want to live in Mexico where their wealth goes further. To add cream on the top, they can claim U.S. Social Security benefits when they reach old age. One Social Security check is enough to live on for months in Mexico.

There is no word for these exploiters of the system. They are certainly not immigrants.

Read it and weep, RINO --

NEWLY-ELECTED, NON-INCUMBANT REPUBLICAN CAMPAIGN POSITIONS IN 2006:

Congressman Brian Bilbray (R-CA) “HAD ENOUGH? It’s Time for Brian Bilbray. Brian Bilbray’s Plan to Secure the Border and Stop Illegal Immigration: For the last 3 years as a Co-Chairman of the Federation for American Immigration Reform, America's preeminent illegal immigration reform advocate, I have lobbied for many essential reforms in our immigration laws to carry on the work that I began when the voters of San Diego County sent me to Congress in 1995. During my previous service in the House of Representatives I was a leader on illegal immigration reform, introducing H.R. 7, the bill to end birthright citizenship. If elected to the House again, I will continue to work to build support for that and the other parts of my plan to enact meaningful immigration reform.”

Congressman Doug Laborn (R-CO) “Doug believes…the most critical economic and national security issue facing our nation today is the rising influx of illegal immigration. Senator Lamborn will make immigration reform a top priority in Congress. Doug is the only real leader the fight to stop illegal immigration and help secure our porous borders, because he is the only candidate with proven leadership in combating the illegal immigration problem”.

Congressman Peter Roskam (R-IL) “Roskam supports the House bill on immigration reform, which he made the centerpiece of his campaign. Roskam has called the Senate version, which his opponent supports, the "Ted Kennedy amnesty bill”. Roskam would send National Guard troops to the border and supports Republican House legislation to make illegal presence in the country a felony and require the building of fences along 700 miles of border. On October 26, 2006, Roskam appeared at a press conference with U.S. House Judiciary Committee Chairman James Sensenbrenner of Wisconsin, who the Chicago Sun Times called "one of the most polarizing figures on the [immigration] issue."

Congressman Bill Sali (R-ID) Bill Sali, a conservative former state Senator best known for his anti-immigration stance, is the newly elected Congressman from Idaho. He noted “We need to stop illegal immigration totally and reduce legal immigration and end the diversity visas policy pushed hard by President Clinton and allowing many persons from the Middle East to come to this country.”

Congressman Tim Walberg (R-MI) Walberg scored an upset victory over his primary rival by empatherizing the border security issue. In the general election, his campaign noted “Tim Walberg believes the government has a duty to secure our borders. For our national security and sovereignty, we must demand people sign the guest book and enter our nation legally. America welcomes people from around the world to come here to work, speak English, realize their dreams, and become American – [that means] no amnesty for illegal immigrants… line cutting can never be accepted. Those who support amnesty for illegal immigrants, drivers’ licenses for illegal immigrants, and welfare for illegal immigrants are wrong, encourage disregard of our laws, and threaten the security of our citizens. “

Congressman Vern Buchanan (R-FL) TOP ISSUE: Secure Our Borders and Crack Down on Illegal Immigrants. “The current policy isn't working. Our top priority must be national security. We must strengthen the U.S. Customs and Border Protection effort to keep terrorists and their weapons out of the United States. We should immediately deport known terrorists, illegal gang members, and those who would traffic in drugs or human beings. We must secure our southern border by building a fence along the portions of the border where most illegal aliens cross. This new high-tech fence would include dual barriers, reinforced fencing, razor wire, and security cameras. This security fence would be supplemented by reconnaissance flights.
Illegal immigrants should not be allowed to obtain a driver's license. We should require proof of legal residency before immigrants can obtain government benefits. We must remember that Florida's security demands protecting 14 deep water ports and 1,400 miles of coastline. We must work to make sure Florida's homeland security funding needs are met… We must respect the rule of law by denying amnesty to illegal immigrants. We must oppose giving Social Security to illegals. We should not reward those who have broken our laws with guest worker programs that lead to citizenship.”

Congresswoman Mary Fallin (R-OK) “My major issue is national security…The issue of illegal immigration is first and foremost one of national security. It's why job one must be to secure our borders. We can debate the specifics of our immigration policy until we are blue in the face, but as that discussion continues, illegals continue flow across our borders at an ever-increasing rate….Once we are confident the flood of illegal immigration has subsided, we must address programs that act as incentives for people to come to this country illegally. It will be fruitless to clamp down on our borders if we still allow illegals who slip through the cracks to enjoy the full privileges of American citizenship without shouldering any of the responsibilities. We cannot grant amnesty to those who are here illegally. The rule of law must prevail We must make it easier for employers to verify citizenship and, once the system is in place, aggressively prosecute employers who knowingly hire illegals. We must not offer special privileges like in-state college tuition to people here illegally. We must protect our social services and health care systems from bearing the undue burden placed on them by the growing illegal population. I do not favor amnesty. It would be a slap in the face to the millions of immigrants who played by the rules to become part of American society.”

Congressman Dean Heller (R-NV) ON IMMIGRATION: Stop Illegal Immigration and Defend Our Borders “Dean Heller opposes amnesty for those that enter America illegally. Immigrants that wish to become citizens must follow our laws. In Congress, Heller will support increased efforts to defend America’s borders and protect us from anyone that wants to do harm to Americans. If you elect Dean Heller, he will defend our freedom, and our way of life in Nevada.”

That was my plan...what's your plan for pulling 21 million Republican voters out of thin air?

Free schooling?
oh wait..we already give them that.

How about free medical care.....
hmmmm, seems like we got that one covered already....

How about selective law enforcement...you know..."don't ask" (if I'm here illegally) don't tell. Let's make their automobile registration and automobile insurance requirements "voluntary". Oooops.... seems we already extend these bennies to them now.

I know! Let's make it so when we get voice mail on the phone it's in spanish and we have to "press one for eeeeenglish", that should lure a few of them over to "our side". LOl.

Just how much ass-kissing are you willing to do? Slip those kneepads on!

Ronald Reagan ----------------------------- Bay Buchanan
Candidate --------------------------------- Campaign Treasuer
Reagan for President -------------------- Reagan for President

Will you ever be posting images of Ronald Reagan and his Campaign Treasuer, Bay Buchanan, side-by-side? Everyone knows Bay Buchanan is PERSONALLY overseeing ALL of Reagan's campaign finances. Shame on Reagan for "selling out" to the Buchanans. He's an embarrassment to the GOP.

You know, I don't know a single real person who isn't fed up with illegal immigration, and this includes liberals and conservatives. It's odd that I see so many defend it on the internet and in the media.....

You know what brytlea you remind me of the wealthy woman New Yorker who made the famous quote after the 1972 landslide by Nixon of "I don't know how Nixon won, I didn't know anybody who voted for him".

It is obvious that you are somewhat isolated, given the fact that pelosi & co. took over the House and such immigration hardliners and who made immigration a central theme of their campaigns and publicity lost such as Hayworth and Hostettler.

Uh you do know that Bay's brother Pat, got regulated to a broom closet office later in the Reagan administration.

But not to worry, Pat bounced back when he found his true home by being employed by the liberal networks by being the sour and ugly face of conservatism. A job he truly relishes.

Since the immigration reforms of the 1960s, the U.S. has imported poverty through immigration policies that permitted and encouraged the entry and residence of millions of low-skill immigrants into the nation. Low-skill immigrants tend to be poor and to have children who, in turn, add to America’s poverty problem, driving up governmental welfare, social service, and education costs.

Today’s immigrants differ greatly from historic immigrant populations. Prior to 1960, immigrants to the U.S. had education levels that were similar to those of the non-immigrant workforce and earned wages that were, on average, higher than those of non-immigrant workers. Since the mid-1960s, however, the education levels of new immigrants have plunged relative to non-immigrants; consequently, the average wages of immigrants are now well below those of the non-immigrant population. Recent immigrants increasingly occupy the low end of the U.S. socio-economic spectrum.[2]From here.

You must be another believer in a permanent second class, then.

Looks like Dane is wrong again. What else is new? A broken record with stale lines mixed with hyperbole.

That's the most common thing in these illegal-immigration threads - Dane will show up to defend his cheap labor. He repeats the lies consistently, apparently in an effort to make the majority (who are against this invasion) think that they are a minority. I think I speak for many when I say that those that support the amnesty, regardless of what they call it, will NOT get my vote. And I don't care what party they belong to.

>> Uh you do know that Bay's brother Pat, got regulated to a broom closet office later in the Reagan administration. <<

Yes Dane, and I don't see why that is relevant to the conversation at hand, since he keeps on posting images of BAY Buchanan (NOT Pat Buchanan) and Tanc together. BAY Buchanan and Tom Tancredo have worked together. PAT Buchanan and Tancredo have not. PAT Buchanan has NEVER been a member of Tancredo's PAC. Tancredo has NEVER been a member of PAT Buchanan's campaign. PAT Buchanan is even less connected to Tancredo than he was to Reagan (at least Reagan initially hired him, unlike Tancredo). The only thing they have in common is the same position on immigration.

Now that I've admitted PAT Buchanan (who I have never supported, check my posts from 2000) was an utter cipher in Reagan's admistration, are you ready to admit that freshmen Congressmen Vern Buchanan, Mary Fallin, Dean Heller, Douglas Lamborn, Brian Bilbray, Peter Roskam, Bill Sali, Adrian Smith , and Tim Walberg made illegal immigration a centerpiece in OPEN SEAT districts and WON?

I worked on Roskam's campaign and witnessed it first hand. I can tell you for certain that he ran in an open district. It was rated "toss up" He had a tough race. He ran to the right of Henry Hyde. He hammered away at stopping illegal alien as his major campaign theme. He WON.

Lying about it or pretending he doesn't exist will not change the fact.

I don't agree that protecting the borders was a bad idea. I do think the Republicans could have presented it better.

Immigration in most Western countries needs to be reformed. A friend of my mother's, a highly qualified surgeon who speaks English (from Colombia) found it impossible to get a visa to the United States. Yet, millions of illegals with far lesser qualifications are not barred. This makes no sense whatsoever.

Framing the debate properly, and in this kind of context, should make it clear that any crackdown on illegals is not based upon race or place of origin - rather, the United States (and other countries) need to adopt a broad policy of only letting people in who have useful skills and speak the language. The unfairness of the present policy to those who play by the rules should also be emphasised.

Regards, Ivan
