Airport Wants To Crack Down On (Muslim) Taxi Drivers (Minneapolis)

Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport wants to crack down on Muslim taxi drivers who refuse to carry alcohol or service dogs in their cabs. At a meeting Wednesday of the Metropolitan Airports Commission, airport staff asked the commission to give the go-ahead for public hearings on a tougher policy that would suspend the licenses of drivers who refuse service for any reason other than safety concerns.

Drivers who refuse to accept passengers transporting alcohol or service dogs would have their airport licenses suspended 30 days for the first offense and two years for the second offense, according to a revised taxi ordinance proposed by the commission's staff.

"Our expectation is that if you're going to be driving a taxi at the airport, you need to provide service to anybody who wants it," commission spokesman Patrick Hogan said. The full commission is expected to vote on the proposal for public hearings at its next meeting, scheduled for Jan. 16.

As you may remember, MSP is the same airport that hosted the "Flying Imams"

Looks like MSP may have grown a pair.

This will surely cause a major uproar here. Stay tuned!

I love this part.

"We want the drivers to know about the policy in advance, so that if they don't think they can work under these conditions, they have the option of not renewing their license," Hogan said.

Get with the program or look for a different job. lol

A step in the right direction, for sure. But this issue isn't anywhere near resolved.

You also need to keep in mind that this IS Minnesota. Expect Keith Ellison on this in 5.......4........3.......

We'll see if it happens in May or not, we'll get our answer then, I guess.

MSP has the best "Military support" room I've ever seen. They even have bunks upstairs for service people with long lay overs. Food and drinks always available. The nice folks on duty there are 100% volunteers. My hats off to them and my thanks for all the times they've made me and my men feel comfortable and appreciated.

Too true. I hope more Americans put a stop to the Muslim madness. I think a boycott of Muslims driving taxi's is in order. There has to be other taxi drivers besides Muslims. I plan to boycott any business I know that is Muslim owned or run by them. I have had enough of them.

The public has a right to be accomodated by those operating a public conveyence. This is America and we set the rules. If someone has religious or other objections to the commonly accepted standards of a secular American society, then they need to find another line of work.

I am appalled that this issue is getting any more than a Donald Trump level of consideration: You're Fired.

I've had to remember to insist that the cab company send me a cab that will deal with my corporate credit card. If they send a muslim, they have a sh*tfit when you get to the airport.

Oho, they've been refusing people with service dogs too, have they? I didn't see that in previous articles about this. I wonder if they thought their ban on alcohol laden passengers worked so well that they dared to extend it to dogs (with an end goal of refusing all infidels?)

It's been in a couple of articles, here and there. It hasn't been the story that the no-booze issue has.

Yup, the other day I got into a cab driven by an Amish guy. It was horse-drawn. When he saw I had zipper on my trousers he refused the fare. Boy, was I steamed.

I agree with you, if they have religious objections to picking up their fellow Americans, they should get out of the cab business. Simple as that.

I'll be shocked if any governmental entity in this country follows through on correcting such nonsense. Shocked. We live in the iron grip of political correctness and it becomes more obvious by the day that nothing short of a cataclysmic wake-up call is gonna change things. The backward drivers will stomp and puff and the powers-who-be will quietly fade into the background. Bet a buck.
