The socialist Democrats would be much less likely to push dangerous gun control laws which increase violent crime if they had to run for reelection in unsafe, competitive election districts.

This is why redistricting reform and outlawing gerrymandering should be a top priority for all citizens of all political parties.

For more information on redistricting reform and gerrymandering, see the FraudFactor.com web page on this subject:

Gerrymander and the Need for Redistricting Reform

Just how do these elect officials plan on disarming by force between 800,000 and 8,000,000 armed Americans

One at a time. Their anti-gun police will show up in 20:1 odds at house after house. Why do you think that the police/swat have been militarized over the last 20 years or so? Does anything seriously think that the police need armoured vehicles to arrest rapists, burgulars and gang bangers? no. These special units (einsatzgroupen to give them ther German name) will be coming for the second amendment defenders once filth like Pelosi, Kennedy and Feinstein get their way.

Forgot one...

Start cultivating the mindset to USE it...

Without that, it's just a paperweight.

My wife insists that I teach both of our kids to shoot as soon are they are old enough.

This country used to tar and feather tax collectors. We used to toss tea into harbors and rebelled against what was then our Rightful government.

Now, we put up with every form of abuse you can think of without so much as bad language being hurled at the legislators and litigators doing this to us. We vote and think this will solve everything.

No real wonder how we've gotten to where we are.

A small percentage fought to free this country from the King. It will be a small percentage to do so again and restore the freedom we've lost.

And yes, the price is worth it.

"Everyone who is eligible (and doesn't already own one) should buy a gun as soon as possible and learn how to use it."

And become a member of the NRA. There are a number of folks here who piss and moan about the NRA, but they are THE most effective lobbying group protecting firearms rights. If they occasionally stray from the "straight and narrow", there ARE elections by which that can be corrected.

Yes, it's inconvenient putting up with the deluge of junk mail, but that's just part of the deal.

AK-47 Works everytime on everything--(semi of course)

My sentiments exactly. If parts get scarce, one wants a gun that goes the longest without breaking.

Rifles in .223, .308 and 30-06. Pistols in 9mm, 45Auto. That covers the stock military calibers. Well regulated means coming to the party with a common caliber that shoots the standard coin of the realm. A rifle in 7.62x39 probably wouldn't hurt either. Lots of ammo around in that caliber.

Add a Mossberg 590 or Remington 870 to that list. Quite inexpensive and ammo is very cheap. 100 shells of 8 shot 2 3/4" still go for $15 at wal mart. Add some slugs or buckshot and you're pretty well covered all around.

Over the years I have seen some folks state that, in their opinion, such a conflict would not necessarily be completely one-sided, and they also opined that some of those giving orders (and their families) wouldn't be so safe.*

I've also read several fiction books that speculate along similar lines.

*Oh, just in case one or more law enforcement agencies are monitoring this thread, please remember that I just read some posts about what other people's opinion was. I am making NO threats of any kind, nor am I endorsing or supporting any type of illegal violence against anyone for any reason.

I suspect that the anti-gunners and their accomplices in the MSM are hoping that the conflict would not be one sided. All that much the better to demonize freedom loving gun owners everywhere with the epithet "cop killer". I wonder if the minute men at concord were considered "red coat killers"

Not having been in such a position before I can't say for certain, but I suspect that once someone has made a decision to cross a line like that, mere name-calling won't get them to stop. Particularly if you are dealing with some ex-Special Forces type who is convinced that he is the true patriot, and that those trying to grab guns from otherwise law-abiding citizens and murdering those who won't comply are the traitors.

Given what happened in the DC area about 4 years ago, when 2 idiots with little or no training, brains or coherent plan brought an entire region to a virtual standstill, I wouldn't want to be an anti-gun pol or media type. I'd especially not want to be the pol who had to explain to the public that the truckers refused to move food or fuel to the big coastal cities because it was necessary to seize guns from members of the public who hadn't done anything else wrong in their lives.

The shotgun angle is already covered. While I have a few in the inventory, I consider it a close quarters firearm. Just as you shouldn't bring a knife to a gun fight, it isn't wise to bring a shotgun to a rifle engagement. If the bad guys get close enough to engage with a shotgun, you've already made a tactical error.

I posted that suggestion for those who have no weapons or little experience, and may be on a budget. You can have a 590 and plenty of ammo to learn with for less than $350. Weapons in the calibers you listed before can run as high as $1200 for the gun alone. Most folk have more black in their wardrobe than in their arsenal. You and I aren't most folk.
