KISMAYO, Somalia Dec 31, 2006 (AP)— Islamic fighters abandoned the last major town they held early Monday and were seen heading south toward the Kenyan border while government forces approached slowly because of land mines, residents and the government spokesman said.
The Islamic forces began to disintegrate after a night of artillery attacks at the front line and following a mutiny within its ranks, witnesses said. Government spokesman Abdirahman Dinari said he had information that Islamic forces were moving south toward the Kenyan border.

My concern is they will repop in Kenya. They have to be driven into the sea or better to hell.

They've lost face by fleeing. Tough to get financing again from your backers, and to recruit newbies, when you've fled with hardly a fight of note.
Consider how easy this was for the Ethopians to accomplish in how many days? How many died while the world stood by for years?

Kenyans should move a border patrol up to intercept them, otherwise they're going to have some nasty bandit problems in the near future.
That's because with the exception of a few articles .. the media basically ignored this story and didn't give the terrorists the heads up
I saw on another thread that the Kenyans are ready to receive the ICU with open arms, if you know what I mean.
It's fairly obvious what has happened in Somalia. Will President Bush receive due credit? No.

I would bet there was an absence of PC with the Ethiopians.
We could learn some lessons from them.

If we removed the PC restrictions on our military in Iraq, they could accomplish similar in short order. Instead, we have too many ending up like the Pendleton 8 for doing their jobs.

If every nation that has a similar Islamist infestation followed Ethiopia's lead, the WoT might be shorter than most politicians think.
