Breaking News:

PETA 'fashion police' cite residents wearing fur, leather

Clad in synthetic knee-high boots, police hats and badges, PETA's "fashion police" issued "violations notices" today to area residents wearing fur, leather and wool.

"This is really a light-hearted way to raise awareness of a serious issue," said Monika Meilleur with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, who was citing people at Miller Park.

PETA claims animals routinely are skinned alive for their fur. Sheep often are mutilated and castrated without painkillers while their fleece is removed, according to PETA.

The group is asking people to consider leather alternatives and to buy wool from manufacturers that don't torture sheep.

"You have 24 hours to replace that with a leather alternative," Ms. Meilleur told one person.

Adam Trent, 21, of Chattanooga, was cited with "stolen skins" and "shear torture" for wearing leather sneakers and a wool coat. But he said the demonstration won't change his mind about wearing leather and wool apparel.

"I just got these; I can't just throw them out," he said, speaking of the shoes he received as a Christmas gift.

I dare PETA to issue a "Violations
Notice" to a leather clad Hell's Angel
on a Harley.

What the heck is wrong with wool? I would bet that most young PETA activists don't know that you don't need to kill a sheep to get its coat.

I just got a new leather trench coat. I figured why not: The cow wasn't using its skin anymore, as it was dinner several weeks ago, and it would otherwise go to waste.

I figure that if the enviro-nuts want us to recycle.......

PETA people are all cowards. They will attack in the dark when no one is around but they will never face and hells angle or a PO'd rancher.
They are cowards one and all.

This is an outright lie!

Answer me this question: Exactly how does it benefit a sheep farmer to mutilate the sheep from which he hopes to get all of his wool? Sounds kind of counter-productive.

Light hearted way to bring public awareness?

No - you're just being obnoxious buttheads. I think you're have a real problem if Christians started citing people for ammoral attire...

Damn straight! Don't use leather, feathers, or fur.

Instead, follow PETA's shining example: euthanize and dump your "rescued" animals, intact, into the nearest dumpster, while chomping a soy burger.

Remember this? I knew the the wheels of justice ground slowly, but this is ridiculous:

The November 13, 2006 trial of two People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) employees (scheduled for November 13, 2006) has been delayed for the seventh time.

Other trial dates for the "PETA2 Two" have included July 19, 2005; August 16, 2005; September 13, 2005; October 14, 2005; November 18, 2005; and May 29, 2006.

These hypocrits make me sick.

Hi All-

We're in 100% agreement. I find it very hard to believe that a person who raises sheep to provide high-quality wool would do anything that would harm their animals. The health and welfare of those sheep and the soft wool they produce is what enables the rancher to keep a roof over his head.

You can serve hard time for impersonating police.

Anyone who does should be prosecuted for the offense.

The amazing part is that the Same folks that wish to replace leather with vinyl and wool with polyester will then whine that the chemical companys are desroying the earth
