North Carolina bar accuses Nifong of "dishonesty, fraud, deceit"
DECEMBER 28---In a stunning rebuke to the North Carolina district attorney handling the Duke University rape case, the state bar today filed an ethics complaint against the prosecutor, claiming that he has made numerous press statements that were "prejudicial to the administration of justice" and also "engaged in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit, or misrepresentation." The North Carolina State Bar's complaint, a copy of which you'll find below, is filled with dozens of comments D.A. Mike Nifong made following the alleged March rape of a stripper who had performed at a party attended by members of Duke's lacrosse team...

He is going to try to get to a trial and hope jury bias will get him a conviction or hung jury. He needs anything to make this case look as if it had merit and him more than a political opportunist.

What Nifong did to those kids was as bad as rape. Too bad he won't do hard time for it.

That's not false.
Where is the surprise? He is a dumb-o-crat up for election so why is anyone surprised that he lied?

Has the ACLU come to the defense of the accused? Isn't it their job to protect civil liberties?
Some of the stuff supposedly bad strikes me as average bluster. The stuff about the evidence is funny--now.

They didn't claim all the statements in the report are false. They break them into different groups. This one was in the "attempting to create prejudice against the accused" category.
And this statement is taken in context with other portions of an interview where Nifong was basically accusing the lacrosse players of using defense tactics and asserting they must be guilty because an innocent person would not do such things.
Yes, the ACLU has offered to support the families of the 3 players under certain conditions;
1. Give all their assets to the ACLU and request membership
2. Renounce all religious affiliations, unless muslim
3. Renounce George Bush and the GOP
4. Support Hilary Clinton and the Dem Party
5. Wives must divorce husbands and become lesbians
6. Husbands must become gay escorts
7. Children must be adopted by Angelina Jolie
