How many troops are stationed in Europe and South Korea? It's an option.

The problem is deeper than that. It's an issue of rotation. You hope to have 1/3 in the fight, 1/3 just back and refitting, and 1/3 training up to go in again. We're running into a situation where units don't have the equipment to train because it's broken awaiting repair or in use over there. That's what the military leadership is talking about when they say that the military is nearly 'broken'. Over 5 years after 9/11 and nearly 4 years after invading Iraq blame for the present size and constitution of our military lies squarely with the GOP Congress and White House. This war was sold as something that could be done on the cheap (and that's a damn relative term), and that's just not bearing out. Instead we have GOP Congressmen fighting tooth and nail to keep their earmarks while hundreds of Abrams and Bradleys sit awaiting funds to make repairs and rejoin the fight. It should be clear, the GOP lost it's way, and didn't lose the Congress by accident.

Yep. But now we are going to be hoisted with our own petard.

Will the dems increase the end strength and funding? Not if Harry and Nancy can help it.

BTW: I think the proper ratio is 4 to 1. Why? Well somebody's got to enable the other 3/4 to do what they do.
