Is it possible that Litvinenko inadvertently poisoned himself -- that HE was the one who had the polonium and had intended to use it to poison others? When it came out that he made a deathbed conversion to Islam, and had sympathies with the Chechens (remember the Beslan massacre), it roused my suspicions. Perhaps he was in the process of planting polonium in various places as a terrorist act. Does anybody else think this is a possibility?

Somewhere here on FR is an article (sorry, did not book mark) that figures he was smuggling the stuff to activate one of those suitcase nukes that needs refreshing.

Nah. Kronos77, I believe, posted on FR a Times article quoting Litvinenko's wife and best friend as seriously doubting his deathbed conversion. The question to ask would be - who would be interested in discrediting litvinenko by pumping up this "conversion", and in whose eyes? Besides, having organizational access both to the press manipulation and to polonium would dramatically limit the circle of suspects. The whole affair stinks with kegebuns even upwind.

Or was he thought to be a double agent? And whoever the recipient was of the polonium needed him to be taken out of the way. Still not a good scenario.

How much Polonium is in $10 million?

My bad dreams are back...
